@scaught78: school isnt for learning. smart kids will be smart, and learn on their own as they go through life. school is for social skills, dont make your child depressive and strange lol.
@jackbling: Dude... School isn't for teaching kids anything or ensuring they have social skills, it's for warehousing them until they're 18 and no longer the school system's responsibility.
@Navin R Johnson: Unfortunately, that isn't true. Me and my 3 sisters were all homsechooled. We all turned out socially fine. We integrated into a real school with no problems when we finally went.
I think you people need to stop make generalizations here and telling someone not to do something based on that. Each individual is different.
Yes, there is a stereotype of socially awkward kids that are homeschooled, but that depends on the factors, the environment and the parents.
Homeschooling itself does not cause social awkwardness, the environment the parents put their children in does. You can be homeschooled and still be put into environments that will foster good social skills. City sports and church come to mind as good ways to still keep a kid in a social circle. Local homeschooling groups will also work the same way as they sometimes provide sports or field trips or activities for homeschoolers to do together.
Every teacher should be armed with a conceal and carry weapon. Most school plans now have them huddle all the students in a "safe area" and they are the only line of defense if a disgruntled gun/bomb/grenade/etc wielding person enters the room.
If you're a disgruntled person, are you going to attack the school that is known to be armed to the teeth or the one with a NO GUNS policy?
@92BuickLeSabre: Yes they would have to be properly trained in order to get a conceal/carry permit.
Concealed being the operative word, as in hidden on their person, not in a desk drawer or in a box on teh wall that says "In case of emergency break glass"
Properly trained people who take the time to go to the classes and learn gun law and how to handle a weapon, in order to get a C/C permit are LESS likely to end up in a situation where they pull their weapon.
But if they do it will only be with intent to shoot.
I am not advocating giving a bunch of untrained people access to a weapon. That would be madness, having these people go through a C/C course would basically turn the faculty into a security force in the event of bad things happening.
Would you rather an armed teacher killed a student who was threatening others, or wait the 5-15 minutes for police to show up and have them kill a bunch of innocent people?
Also: Yes these students are often ignored and feel like nobody cares, whatever. That doesn't give them the right to go crazy and shoot people.
@Lite: killed Dumbledore: I don't know that the "if you don't express every emotion, you blow up" stance is true. I mean, what if you can just control your emotions and that "explosion" is just the offense so over the top that you can't hold down your emotion? Perhaps they snap because they can hold back from doing something to get them kicked out sooner...
@Homerjay would like a refund for CoPilot for iPhone: Nope. But I did put a watersnake and a black widow in there and watched them fight it out. The recluse ate the widow. Fat snake was fat; just sat there unharmed.
Side note: Why are spiders named after unfortunate peoples? Hobo, recluse, widow...

At this point, I always expect the super strange introverted guy/kid to be the one to snap.
