    I can't imagine that the darts would be allowed to fly very fast out of the "gun." Even a small amount of chalk/plastic mix can hurt if its going fast enough. Which brings me to my next point; why haven't we seen a modded version of this thing that gets the darts flying somewhere in the range of 100mph?

    @shocksopping: 100MPH isn't an overwhelming speed for a projectile. Paintballs can approach 200mph.

    They measure those in feet per second though. i think tournament they are allowed max of 220fps?


    which is ONLY 150mph . . .hardly dangerous unless you are hit in the face, neck, chest, groin area . . .and what are the chances of that?

    @William T. Sprague Jr.: Depends on where you play but it's typically 300fps max. Works out to a shade under 205mph. Most people will run their markers at ~280fps just to be sure they don't go over.

    Hmm, very interesting, while I've not seen a chalk gun before I can see the appeal. Think about it, how cool would it be to see a little explosion of chalk dust as you hit your target :D


    Nerf is still king though.

    @Apothacary: They make a bullet that is composed of powder compressed at very high pressure. It is used in Polish Hostage situations. They get a sniper close enough and he shoots the gun. When the bullet hits the gun, it will usually blow the gun out of his hand, but the bullet immediately disintegrates, so there is little chance of the bullet continuing downrange. Of course, this can only be used in certain situations, as it is a precision shot, and can not be used when people's lives are at risk.

    @m4ximusprim3: No, a Polish hostage situation is where someone holds themselves hostage. As in "If you send anyone in, I'll shoot myself". So it's like dealing with a hostage taker, except there is no bargaining as they can't "release" anyone.
