Dance Charge Prototype Powers Phones By Your Furious Robot Moves

Orange, a cellphone provider in the UK, has just developed a couple prototypes of this Dance Charge cellphone charger. You wrap this thing around your arm while you're dancing and your kinetic energy will translate into electricity to power your phone. It's like those flashlights that you have to shake before use, but much, much nerdier. Combine this with the fictional breast charger and you'll be able to power the entire DJ booth with just your flailing limbs. How they got that one chubby doctor from Grey's Anatomy to pose for promo pics is anyone's guess. [Reg Hardware via Tech Digest]

Charger Powers Up Gadgets, Illuminates Dark Areas and Really Works Your Calves

We have seen crank powered chargers before, and even one that involves pedaling, but this bizarre contraption really has it all. With a little pedal power you can juice up a wide range of gadgets—and even use the built-in LED on the battery as a flashlight. But what about the health benefits? More »

Charging Station Holds a Quintet of Energy-Thirsty Devices in Orderly Fashion

There's no shortage of charging stations, but this $49.95 Five Device Recharging Station that starts shipping next week looks especially orderly with its differently sized places at the ready for your various devices. There's four AC outlets, and even two USB ports from which you can gather juice. And, it's all shielded from electro-spikes with a built-in surge protector. Put it on a ledge next to the door. This one might be as handy (and quite a bit neater) than the Chargepod, and might hold us until we can get our hands on one of those Wild Charge wireless charging stations after which we've been lusting. Universal Charger Powers Tools, Manly Stuff

Unlike the universal chargers we've used to power our cellphones and MP3 players, this 10C Crew Charge provides juice to battery packs workers use when they're doing manly work. The Crew Charge has four sockets and universal tips so you can power battery packs from DeWalt, Bosch, Panasonic, Hitachi and more, plus even charging laptops or cellphones with the 12v DC adapter. The whole thing is colored safety orange for maximum worksite visibility, so some guy doesn't trip over it and drill an unnecessary hole in his body. [The Free Charger via Red Ferret]

Lightning Round: Nyko Charge Station 360 Dual Port Xbox 360 Controller Chargers

The Gadget: Nyko's Charge Station 360, which has been around for a while, but is just the thing that new Xbox 360 owners (who got in during Halo fever) need to keep two controller battery packs charged simultaneously. Plus, it even comes with two free battery packs; which cost $12 each when sold separately. More »

Design: Kineticel, the Human Powered Battery Charger

One of the ideas submitted to the Next Generation competition featured in Metropolis Magazine was this Kinetic Energy-harnessing battery charger by Yael Miller. The concept is to take something we're already doing—such as working out, flopping around in a baby rocker, vacuuming, or flushing the toilet—add the piezoelectric effect, and come out with batteries that are charged by "human power." Imagine all the television remotes we could power just from flushing our droppings. [Reuben Miller via Oh Gizmo via Boing Boing Gadgets]

IOGEAR's Gear Juice Makes Sure Your Gadgets Are Never Without Power

The Gear Juice gadget charger is the latest in a trend for electronics — portable chargers that are rechargeable themselves. Using USB or any of the six supplied adapters, you can connect around 100 devices (cellphones, iPods, etc...) to Gear Juice and it will transfer power from its own Lithium Polymer battery into your gadgets. Multi-Purpose Charger Bag Holds Only Chargers

This multi-purpose charger bag seems like a solution in search of a problem. Never in our experience have we had to carry around only chargers in a bag. In addition, we haven't had any trouble keeping chargers separate with just a little bit of cord wrapping beforehand, making the six separate compartments a little iffy as well. But if you're doing a bit of traveling and want to carry around a semi-fashionable charger bag, well, here ya go. Honestly, we recommend the Chargepod if you're going to charge six things at once. Juice Bag Now Available for Us Chicks

Unless, of course, you are a chick that likes backpacks, which I think are too manly by half, then you might be interested in this, a Juice Bag for Lay-deez. It's a large tote which, apart from being capacious enough for your towel, three bikinis, bonkbuster book and SPF lotion, can recharge your phone, iPod or camera thanks to its solar panels. It's pricey though, as it will burn a $249 hole in your lady-purse. More »

Gomadic Charging Station Hides Shame, Displays Gadgets

We're no strangers to charging stations, having reviewed a couple before, but these Gomadic charging stations seem to be a little different. Instead of hiding a power strip inside the station, as we saw in the Kangaroom units, Gomadic has only one AC connection to the wall. More »

Homemade Cellphone Dock Tidies Up Your Wires

If you hate wires as much as I do, you'll find this DIY interesting. It's the brainchild of Bob Loblaw, a user (and fantastic lawyer) over at Instructables who created his own wire-wrangler/charger for his Motorola RAZR. The steps are pretty straightforward if you've got the time to build your own accessories (although oddly enough, it requires a shotgun cleaner). Otherwise you can do like I do and use a small cord/rubberband to tie up loose wire. Any other suggestions to get rid of wires, feel free to drop 'em in comments.

Weird Combo of the Day: Free Phone Charge Adapters with Jim Beam Long Black

If there's ever a pattern with these weird combo of the days we do, it's that people like to bundle things with booze. We suppose you still need to get stuff done when you're drunk. That's why this set of phone charging adapters free with every 4-pack of Jim Beam Long Black isn't really a surprise. You can't drunk dial when your phone's not charged. More »
