    How can a business with a legally enforced monopoly still go bankrupt? I blame the internet.

    @jdale: Snark aside, this is a valid question - you made your own point by saying you don't need cable if you have the internet. Cable isn't a needs-based monopoly - you charge too much, people simply go without. Unlike, say, oil and electricity, the nation's economy isn't going to stall if people can't watch Jon Stewart.
