Also, when chickens walk, they bob their heads back and forth. When they run, they do it even faster, in time with their steps. They do this for the same reason. There is a forward rush of the head, where they can't really see anything, and then the head stays stationary relative to the ground and the body moves forward. They do this in order to see while moving about.
Two ways evolution has solved the same problem.
