Samsung: Hey Circuit City, Where the Hell Is Our $74 Million?
The Complete List of Dead Circuit City Stores

12/03/08
Let's say I'm Samsung and you're Circuit City... I front you $10 million worth of product... a month later you come back for more, but you haven't paid me for that first $10 mil... you're not getting any more until you pay for the first batch.

Better not tell K-Mart...

Not only did they get out of Chapter 11 faster than anyone thought, they turned around and bought Sears.

I hope that clears everything up for you.

The belief that there is no god based upon a lack of evidence accompanied by a tacit admission that there are still both known unknowns and unknown unknowns is every bit as unsupportable as the belief in god in spite of a lack of evidence of said god's existence.
I personally prefer skeptical agnosticism. Maybe there is a god. I have seen nothing to establish the existence of a god - at least not a benevolent, all-knowing, all-powerful god - yet I hope to a certain extent that there is some benevolent deistic force out there. My hope, however, is not actual belief.
I believe that the sun will rise tomorrow. I am not certain of it and I cannot say that I know the sun will rise but, based on prior experience and in consideration of the evidence, I do believe that the sun will rise tomorrow. In New York City, I expect it to rise around 7:03 local New York time.

However, paper beats rock. So does hip-hop music (from a sales standpoint). Therefore, Young Jeezy will topple Castro's regime in Cuba because communism rocks.
Saddam Hussein's regime was a militaristic dictatorship. We toppled Saddam Hussein's regime. Therefore we are Communists. We rock.

Also, kids who listen to rock music kill themselves, kids who listen to hip-hop kill each other... I think we can find a compromise there. But isn't that what Communism is really all about - forced, unwanted "compromise."

People who listen to rock music do not kill themselves.
People who listen to emo music kill themselves. Emo music is like a hippie commune - it's completely worthless and filled with self-important assholes. Even a parliamentary democracy (the pop music of political theory) is better than a hippie commune, just like even a 10 minute dancehall remix of Britney Spears' "Gimme More" is better than the entire discography of Jimmy Eat World.
Hip-hop music is filled with allusions to gun violence and ostentatious displays of wealth. Maybe it's Bushian Theocratic American Imperialism.
Wow! - Rovian political theory combined with Christian Conservativism is like rap music. I guess that explains this YouTube clip:

About Ozzy:
In late 1986, he was the target in the first of a series of US lawsuits brought against him, alleging that one of his songs, "Suicide Solution", drove two more American teenagers to commit suicide because of its "subliminal lyrics"
Emo kids cut themselves. They don't have the balls for the follow through, it's just a cry for attention.
I've never heard of anyone bringing a lawsuit against Sir Mix-a-lot because their child killed themselves after listening to "Baby Got Back."

Not, that I care, no one goes to Circuit City...
(Also, I noticed they're pulling out of Cumming, Georgia)

Y'know, one of the two nearby locations is closing, and they are also right across the street (well, across the highway) from a Best Buy. The other one, which is staying open, is about a block away from a Best Buy. It'd be really interesting to see this list ordered by how close the doomed stores are to a Best Buy, Fry's or other major store that severely undercuts their prices.
Oh, and the only CompUSA in the area, which closed back in that big culling, was about a block away from the Circuit City that is now following suit.

It really depends on the Best Buy that you shop at. I got a laptop at one location and had no hassle. I got a desktop at another location, and when one guy failed to get me to pay the Geek Squad to _remove_ preinstalled software for me, he passed the sale off to another person who just tried all the same tricks on me. So, guess which location will never get another major electronics sale from me...

it's a bittersweet situation. CBS 880AM made it out like NY/CT/NJ lost a prized possession, but in reality the central states suffered the most.
I'm glad CompUSA was the first to go, but don't really feel too much impact because of this. There are 2 Bestbuy's and countless staples (whom I favor to an embarrassing level) around me, so selection isn't an issue.
Retail is a bitchy dog-eat-dog world. I have worked in it for over a year (yes, even for "S.Jobs" in the fruit company, Inc.) so I feel the pain.
Times are changing. Whether it be BB or CC is irrelevant. The fact is, I'm stoked that poor practices and metrics are finally biting themselves [and the employees who will finally see the light at the end of the tunnel] in the ass
I'm seriously rooting for the honest worker and conumer in the end, but unless the unjust retail metrics work themselves out, you'll continue to see acts like this work out
