<![CDATA[Conan Captures Clippy's Horrific Response To MS Word Injunction]]> Sadly, Clippy's life played out much like a True Hollywood Story. Universally loathed, he faked his own death in 2007 only to resurface again in 2009 after a judge ordered a permanent injunction on Microsoft Word sales.

With his revenue finally dried up, he could no longer support the massive drug habit he developed over the last two years as a means of coping with his demons. This final injustice was simply more than Clippy could stand. Although, it's hard to feel sorry for him because he just sucked so...so much. [Tonight Show]

<![CDATA[Clippy Adds Copy and Paste to Jailbroken iPhones]]> It's not App Store approved, but for those in the audience who've jailbroken their iPhones, the Clippy add-on offers some reasonable functionality to copy and paste across apps.

Clippy works by adding copy and paste buttons to the iPhone's keyboard which can be activated on any editable text (emails and SMS). To begin copying, you click "copy." Then you highlight the text. Then you click "copy" again.

Alright, copying is done.

To paste, you just click "paste."

The solution is obviously not super quick, but it's a lot better than using a piece of paper to write down an address before entering it incorrectly into Google Maps. [Clippy via TUAW]

<![CDATA[15 Lame-o Technology Mascots]]> Those crazy cats over at Wired have devised a list with 15 of the lamest of lame tech mascots. The predictable choices are there, like Clippy from MS Office fame. But there were even some newer entries, like the scarier-than-Hell Jester from Adobe CS 3.

But they crossed the line when they subjected Clarus the Dogcow to the list. You do not mess with that half dog/ half cow because she's been through way too much in the last 24 years.

<![CDATA[Clippy R.I.P. - The World Wasn't Ready For You?]]> With recent tragedies surrounding our space an pornography programs, one major death has been passed over by the media. We are speaking of the late, not-necessarily-beloved Clippy who was brutally murdered out of Office 2007. Here is what Jensen Harris, Office Group Program Manager, had to say about the recent death.

One of the tenets that we had about the new UI in 2007 was that we only wanted to create one way to get to all features. We didn't want to have menus and toolbars and Clippy as parallel, slightly different ways of getting to the features, so Clippy as a way of helping you decode cryptic menus and toolbars didn't make sense, because we didn't have those cryptic menus and toolbars anymore...Although I think that social user interface wasn't ready for the mainstream yet
At the age of 10, Clippy was just a child at (his?) death. In private, Clippy often spoke of leaving the office behind for a simpler life. We hope that he found it...wherever he may be.

Also, I freaking hate Clippy.
