In reply to Dell Studio XPS 8000, 9000 Desktops Look Good, Use Latest Intel Chips
Having just recently bought a laptop, and using my desktop less and less, I think I may soon be joining the growing population who feel that the desktop at home is a dying concept.

*UNRELATED SIDE QUESTION: My account was approved (I believe) a week ago, yet my comments still need approval to be seen. Is something wrong, or is there something I don't know...?

@SEDAGIVE?!: You're just not special enough. Write funny stuff and get a star. Or barring that, write boring stuff and click "show hidden threads".

@Pope John Peeps II: It's not that I'm not featured, as in those with stars, it's that they don't show up at all. Not even in my profile, unless they get approved, which I thought was only the case if I was not an approved account.

I really don't want to make a fuss, just wanted to check if there's anything I can do other than write comments@gizmodo.com, which I did with no reply.

@SEDAGIVE?!: It's kinda complex how it works (and I think only the mystical Giz demi-gods truly understand it), but the best thing you can do is keep commenting.

AFAIK, though, your account gets approved when you set it up, but you're currently in the audition stage. Get a few good comments in and you'll get the inviso-comment turned off.

@OCEntertainment: I will plan on continuing to comment, then. I was just confused when a week ago, OMG Ponies! asked Jesus to consider my audition successful after a few of my posts, and the little disclaimer on my profile that used to say I was in audition mode disappeared. I guess I thought that I had been accepted into the fold. It appears not, I'll keep it up.

@SEDAGIVE?!: Keep hope alive! But other than that while I love using my mbp recently I have been getting the urge to get a nice fast desktop. I don't mind taking my laptop to class but at home I would love to have a super fast development machine, especially one with an Intel SSD..mmhm *drools*

@Nahir: I can't help but agree with the need... the need for speed. But now that I've recently started grad school, a laptop is non-negotiable, and the cost of keeping up with the times on two or more computers could get higher than I want to dish out.

Listen. A hundred bucks to the first person to buy this for me. No joke, man.
