When I read the title, I was hoping the thing in common was that you both worked for a company that prints money, and then I would've applied for a job here. But alas...
Also, is "Schill-list" supposed to remind me of "Schindler's List"? Because it does.

I prefer SoundHound (got it for free when it first came out) and I like it a lot more than Shazam. Works faster, loads faster, and has more features. Shazam is still a good app but I've moved on :)
@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher:: I'm not sure I'd group Phil Schiller and 'every employee' in the same category. And I think it's pretty safe to say that most Giz readers do know who the top honchos are at Apple.
@back_at_it: I'd like to hope that not every single Giz reader is such a hardcore Apple fan where they know all these names otherwise that's pretty sad. I mean, can you name the Senior VP of marketing at Dell or Microsoft?
@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher:: In fact, I cannot name the Senior Vp of Marketing at Dell off the top of my head. But I'd argue that Apple puts more of their higher-ups in the limelight than does Microsoft or Dell. Also, I don't find it sad when someone takes an interest in something, be it Apple or otherwise.
I'm pretty sure it's "faux pas". Considering you just made a faux pas while trying to type the words "faux pas", my brain just exploded from the recursiveness.
I saw one at the Best Buy in the John Hancock Center. It was like butter, I couldn't believe it. The screen was nice and bright, the transitions were smooth, rotating from landscape to portrait was instant. They had it hooked up to a TV displaying video and it looked excellent. The girl showcasing it didn't let me hold it, but they had some fake plastic ones that they said weighed the same and they were incredibly light. The HD radio was cool though they let me plug my Shure se210 headphones in. The sound was crystal clear. I'm going to get one on the 15th. I'll probably have to order it from the website though, because I want a black 32 GB.
This was the first thing the guy did where I was in NYC. I didn't even ask, he just said "They have apps in the marketplace, and they will be open to developers..."
Hey! Cool! This is my picture! I sent this in from my fiancee's email address(thus the "Jarnet"). At any rate, ya they actually wouldn't let me use the wifi(they originally said there wasn't any wifi available but then when I set up my phone to tether it, they said they couldn't let me). They also showed a movie off the zune that showed Burnout for Zune.
@gotFrosty: YEAH! Too bad it's not a rocket car too! I mean, why should I have to carry a phone, and MP3 player AND have a vehicle? I want full device integration!
You know, Gizmodo is nothing but a bunch of Zune fanbois. You never see them giving this kind of atention to the iPhone.
I wish there was some way to filter out all the stupid Zune stories. Its like you guys are always jerking off Zune Guy. I mean really - can his cock be any deeper down your throat.
@S-Express: @sdowney83: With all due respect to ponies! and his star, that was kinda of an obvious, lame, non-star joke. Thanks to you two lemmings, it would seem there are more ponies! fanboys on here than zune fanboys.
@OMG! Ponies!:
IIRC there was a load of iPhone hype very similar preceding the release of the iPhone, but now that it has been released there is understandably less focus as there is little to discuss once the product it out.
Zune is in production and is as such a matter of speculation, similar to how the iPhone was before it was released.
Now get off your high horse and GTFO the internet, since (to use your words) can his [Steve Jobs] cock be any deeper down your throat?
@OMG! Ponies!: I know right!!! I mean come on!!! Like, all day, it's "Microsoft" "Bill", "Zune" "Enterprise Database Server" "Exchange" I mean, like come on!!!

@BeerManMike: I agree with S-Express, it was actually good. And there's nothing wrong with being a Ponies! fanboi. Join the club! Free admission until you actually want to get in! Then it will cost you!
@BeerManMike: I found his joke witty, thank you, and I am a Zune "fanboy". I have a 30GB Zune and an 8GB zune and I will have a new 32GB HD on Sept. 15th. I think his comment was directed at the people who were always bitching about all the Apple posts in the past.
And the lemmings comment is simply unneeded and asshattastic.
@BeerManMike: I found his joke pathetic and annoying. But that's because I'm a Mac Fanboi and consequently humourless and blind to anything that wasn't shat from Steve Jobs behind.
@citizensmith: See kids - this is what is known in the business as "misdirection". He starts off going in one direction and then, suddenly, takes the joke in the opposite direction.
A marketplace with Apps is nice, but what about the "developers! developers! developers!"? I haven't seen any mention of a Zune SDK or any entrance fee to be able to play on this hardware. How is this going to compare to iTunes? The reason "there's an app for that" is because there are so many people pounding out crapware for the iPhone/Touch. Who can make a Zune app? How much of the sale to they get to keep? Seems pretty late in the game to announce this kind of stuff.
@KenK: Its already been mentioned that The XNA Creator's Studio that microsoft released will also work with zune, so the tools technically have already been out for over a while already.
I wonder what the app store restrictions will be. Will it be where once you purchase the app, it is yours no matter how many devices you own? Or will it be linked to a device? or a limit of installs?
Hopefully it will be like the Apple app store, but im still getting a 3g touch in September and not a zune.
@Segador: The problem is still DRM - anything you access with Zune Pass is DRM protected, you can't burn CDs from it for example. And of course if you stop paying the monthly $$$, they all go away.
Only tracks that you buy are DRM free - and if you don't use your Zune Pass credits in that month, they won't roll-over, you loose them.
Add to that the limited selection on the Zune Pass - MS freely admit that they won't make all material available for Zune Pass, and it's not a great deal - and certainly a poor cousin for the iTunes store.
@S-Express: Don't forget to mention that the 10 songs you get to keep with the zune pass can be burned to cd.
If you follow the logic you'll understand that of course you can't burn the regular zune pass stuff since you are renting the tracks technically. It doesn't make sense to be able to burn them.
On the flip side I can't imagine burning music to CD anymore. My Zune 80 has replaced cd's for me completely even when driving since I have aux in jacks. If you don't have those there are other alternatives.
As for selection, I have found that everything I want to hear is available. so while it may not as comprehensive as itunes for now, it's real word selection is great.

Once I see the kind of store Microsoft has in place (and as long as the 64gb isn't too much higher) I'll definitely be getting one.

I tend to have to buy those. Other than that there are only a handful of artists I've had to purchase outside of Zune Pass.
It's very comprehensive. I would say it has about 90% of the music I want to listen to.
And like Ryan said you can burn to CD the 10 zune pass credit songs since you own them.
