My father had one of these when I was young.. He was an avid slide guy.. All his photos were developed twice over.. The projector is gone but I have all of his slides and old pentax.. I remember the Sundays with friends and family all huddled in the dark, staring at the huge white screen set up in the Family room.. Pop corn made by cooking in oil, not air or micro'd.. I remember how bored I was as a kid with the whole thing; when I'd much rather be watching Sunday afternoon Sci-Fi/ Kung Foo movies.. #realist3dprojector
There's an absolutely amazing aesthetic to products of that era that stuff today is just lacking. It's compact, tasteful, and looks supremely competent. It also looks like it could shrug off a .44 round to the head. #realist3dprojector
My father-in-law had one of these. Threw it out when we cleared out the house, because we couldn't keep everything.
However, I *did* keep his Revere 33 stereo camera and the "ViewMaster" style hand held viewer, along with his collection of four drawers of stereo slides. The top three drawers were stereo shots of my wife's family.
I had the camera repaired and overhauled for $100, then took a couple of rolls of stereo slides of my family. Pretty neat.
The best part, though, was the fourth drawer of his slide collection. Nudies. From the 50s...in stereo. Slides were completely unmarked, giving no clue as to their origin. Did he take them? Did he buy them? We'll never know. But I have them. #realist3dprojector
