anything wifi related is harsh on battery. my little sansa clip will go for about 20-30 hours of low volume fm, and its battery is about 1/8th the size of the ipods.
This is one rumor that will be true, because it's another worthless addition to the iphone. Any station worth its salt already has streaming and/or an app to listen to it.
@vladdybear: They integrated it into the nano, and Apple's been catering to the FM-listening crowd for quite some time (though at a ridiculous premium for a stupid glitchy dongle). They're just as susceptible to backpedaling.
This sounds great if only to give me access to the audio from the TV's at my gym. They stream the sound using FM transmitters-so I've been left in the auditory dark.
With nike+, all of the workout apps and a possible FM radio this is turning into the perfect gym gadget.
@Ben Longo: I use the radio on my Zune all the time at the gym. It comes in very handy. Hopefully this is true, since the hardware is already there in some cases.
This is good, but it's just a shame that NYC has some of the shittiest FM around. Heck I'd rather listen to the Power Loon in the backwoods of Minnesota. If there was a unicorn I could feed a bowl of mercury to to kill the beast, I'd feed it two.
Well, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this... it could also be tha fact that if they included a cam on the 'touch, their iphone sales might have gone down. Because thinking about it, the camera was the thing that made me buy an iphone over a ipod touch. The fact it was a phone-inconsequential, but, the camera (+ speakers + mic) really made it feel like a superior device. ATT probably throws some pennies their way also...
Yep, about what I expected. More and more the evidence is pointing to the fact that there was supposed to be a camera but it wasn't good enough for a release.
Giz may call it a rumor that didn't pan out but I call it a rumor that did.
It was supposed to have a camers, camera didn't work, so the slapped an old cover (sans camera hole) on the back and called it good.
Fully expect a mid-line up change for the touch. If your looking at the touch, wait the two months its going to take to get the camera models out. Don't buy the place keeper then bitch when the new one is released.
"if you have an N router and are tired of slumming with a/b/g, this would be a big deal."
Giz believes the iPhone will have the horsepower to take advantage of 802.11n speeds -- that 802.11g is holding it back? Hilariously absurd.
@The_Gas_Man: What? I think Giz is saying that those with 802.11n routers wouldn't have to drop the entire network down to b/g speeds just so they can connect their iPod Touch to the network.
I bet those will be activated in 4.0 and then you all will be excited when we see some other device in a touch that will be activated in 5.0.... and the cycle repeats..

yes where is flash. FM radio on the iphone? damn imagine how much worse the battery life will be

listening over fm will drain less battery than listening to your library.

My sentiments.

pop the camera out of a nano and crack open the touch, and just set it in its spot.
