So, Sega can violate the "no code execution" rule on the iTunes store because it doesn't compete with anything Apple does, but nobody can produce web browsers for the iPhone because they'd need to run JavaScript to be useful.

Nice, Apple. Nice.

See, I think it'd be rather nice to have Opera ported to the iPhone. They could even integrate Flash support, if they chose. Except Apple won't approve apps that execute arbitrary code like the Sega emulator does.

Microsoft might be up for it, if they can somehow find a business model to suit it. They've demonstrated that already, with the introduction of the modular "Game Room".

What'd be even better (though impossible) would be to have the application connect to a 'SEGA account', so you can access your purchased games on any platform you choose. Theres no way that will happen though, the concept's not commercially viable.

This is great as a LEGAL option for those who enjoy console emulation. Droid users, while they may have more selection, have no legal options for this at the moment (other than creating your own ROMs).
