The one nice piece of the hardware was that you didn't need a net connection to listen. There are places where you dont' get cell coverage, so unless they include buffering 2GB of music, the hardware still has a slight advantage.
I got an earlier version of the hardware (G1, I guess) and even though it is a bit bulky, I really like it. I wouldn't consider consider the functionality of the device alllll that insignificant considering that there are SOME people without Blackberries and iPhones ...right?
Anyway, hopefully outlets will put the G2 on sale for fairly cheap and I can pick it up :) #slackerexitshardwarebusiness
I had the iPhone app first and the G1 second. I would probably buy a Slacker G3 if they made one but sadly that isn't going to happen. I enjoy the music served up by Slacker vs. other online streaming radio services. #slackerexitshardwarebusiness
It seemed like day one that these were just a useless device made only to make money. With apps on Blackberry and iPhone, who really needs this? The industry is going closer to one-device integration, and this is the exact opposite of it. #slackerexitshardwarebusiness
As a San Diego native that last post was interesting.
The ironic thing about such "nice" weather all the time is that we start to crave "shitty" weather. I just want it to rain so badly sometimes. Sunshine can get so boring sometimes. #gizmodoremainders
@Mad as a Hatter: I think if you move here from somewhere with actual seasons, you'll welcome the steady weather. But when you've lived here 98% of you're ready for something different. #gizmodoremainders
@Mad as a Hatter: Ah, I hear you. I lived in the Inland Empire for a few years during college. While there was slightly more variance in the weather there than here, it was still pretty consistent. Consistently ugly. I'll take SD's consistent beauty any day.
But I did spend some time in Toronto and they had this crazy thing over there. It was called "winter." Never heard of that before. #gizmodoremainders
@dingus: Well i agree the resistive does suck greatly, but as a cheap phone that can get many more people into a begging android i am all for it. I won't buy one, most of the tech community won't, but the average person isn't going to know the difference and get to experience android for next to nothing.
