@ddmeightball: They're somewhat different. Brando sells novelty items while Vizio sells decent quality TVs that are somehow less expensive than their competitors'. I don't know how they do it. I mean, sure there's a markup for brand names, but it can't be that much considering how many brands there are - Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp etc.
@Joshua Valencia: Well, for what it is worth, we are talking about a security vulnerability and not a virus, and Apple has their fair share of those. But, if your point is that Windows users should shut their trap due to the virus issue, I cannot argue that.
For what it is worth, the advice of just turning off Java does not necessarily work in the corporate environment. Java is used for almost every type of application imaginable, and that translates to home Mac users having to use it for access to their "desktop" in the office.
Even though it has some holes, Java is still slightly better than a poke in the eye. Slightly.
Ah, if MAC were just popular and compatible with...any good programs it would have just as many if not more virus problems than Windows. OS X is just not attractive to hackers, period.
MAC's aren't special there just the computer version of locking yourself in a cave and producing your own crappy food out of rocks and moss to avoid being shot in the face by Mr. Big Bad Scary Black Man.
Reality is, things happen, period, that doesn't mean you have to hide from the good stuff. Give it up MAC users, you're not special...
Sorry this doesn't have to do much with Java...uh...haha MAC users!!!
@thorax232: I don't understand your statement. I once ate a filet mignon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes while eating my Mac, so I don't quite get this crappy cave food you speak of. Oh, it was metaphorical? Silly me.
And, from the article: "This exploit will work on all the platforms, all the architectures and all the browsers! Mine has been tested on Firefox, IE6, IE7, IE8, Safari and on MacOS X, Windows, Linux and OpenBSD and should work anywhere."
The key is that Apple hasn't patched their version of java yet, but most windows and linux users haven't either.
more FTA: "So MacOS X users, please disable Java in your web browser.
Others: make sure you have updated Java and still disable it in your web browser: it's a huge attack surface and it suffers from many other security vulnerabilities."
@KinOfCain: I might be reading too much into your comment but it sorta sounds to me like you think it's ok for Apple to neglect updating just because some users of other operating systems haven't either?
@Thyomorb: it's a possesive, mhr512 just accidentally hit the submit button. Unfortunately, we'll never know what the macchiato owns that he loves so dearly.
That kills mobile safari's re-rendering time. I hope apple's allowance for alternative browsers based on webkit will give iphone users a faster alternative browser too.

>.< Yes Kaiser, it's a metaphor. I get games and wonderful freeware and various software. You get OS X. Metaphor explained. Your welcome.
