I'm still rockin' with my PSP2000 CFW. PSPGo is a no Go for me. Someone idiotic is running the division.
Now why would someone buy a PSPGo with a UMD drive when they can just go get a PSP3000 for much less than just the PSPGo by itself? Perhaps the same idiot who's running Sony's PSP division came up with that deal.
@Noobs-R-Us: "Who are the ad wizards who came up with that one?"
It seems, no it IS, ridiculous. Choices are always good, but isn't that the reason they still sell the old PSPs? They might as well sell an SNES cartridge adapter for the Wii.
I don't see any major publisher releasing a popular title for the PSP Go only any time soon, unless it's from Sony or unless Sony pays someone to do so.
@madog: Even if it was released ONLY on the PSP Go, it will still run on the PSP. It has the same control scheme, and runs on similar hardware.
I just think its a stupid add on. I like the PSP Go and what it has to offer. I really do think its a great idea and people are shutting it down because it doesnt have a UMD drive. but the years before that people are ragging on the "pointless" UMD format.
@Chon: I think people are ragging on Sony not because of not having UMD on the PSPGo but because the Go experience just isn’t as good as on the PSP. First of all, Sony should have come up with a scheme to allow UMD owners to convert their games. Second, the downloadable games should be price competitive compared to the UMDs. That goes for the overpriced console also. Third, the downloadable game selection should include all of the UMD versions. Fourth, the slow speed of the "B" wifi and the large size of the games files means that you have to wait hours to download a game. And the faults goes on and on.
Like I wrote earlier, the person who green lighted this should be fired for being such an idiot.

@Chon: I wasn't clear enough before, but I was referring to a game being PSP Go only as in it's a download only game and doesn't come out in UMD for the older ones.
Or does the last gen have access to the online Sony store as well? I didn't even think of that before, if that's what you are correcting me on.
@jrronimo: After I posted that comment I realized I probably would too.
I think my whole problem with the Go is it wasn't a natural transition as say, Nintendos with the DSi. Sure GBA carts are still plentiful, but with that removal they kept the NDS slot and added the online store as opposed to cutting the physical media out completely.
@madog: Completely agreed. The thing that would have made the PSPGo much more... welcoming to us PSP owners would have been a way to get existing games/UMDs attached to one's PSN account for downloading. I saw a solution that involved sending in the proof of purchase that came with a game's packaging and I totally agree with it. (Although thinking about it out loud, I can imagine clamshell thefts to skyrocket in Gamestops nationwide with such a plan in effect.)
That being said, of course one can always keep their old PSP after buying a Go, but it just seems like such a bother to have to keep two devices around depending on what games one wants to play.
I'll be sticking with my PSP 1000 for the indefinite future. I'd love to upgrade to a 3000 for the TV-Out functionality someday, but I'm not *that* desperate for it.
@madog: Yeah, Patapon 2 came out earlier this year in the US as a Voucher DL only title. I think Europe and Japan got UMD versions. PSP's have access to the store now.
@Noobs-R-Us: I give you all those points, especially the damn price and the game prices being well only being a buck or 2 off the UMD version.
but I think if you're buying a PSP Go you should deal with it. As far as the UMD conversion method. It was mentioned! then there was some bullshit and shut it down completely. Outta curiousity I haven't downloaded a PSP game, how big are they? It shouldnt be more than a gig right?
I'm somewhat into audio (was going to go to school as an audio engineer back in the day... don't know what happened to that, but alas, I am where I am) and randomly decided to plug my ipod into all of the docks at Best Buy.
I hadn't read this article, but found, regardless of price, the JBL was by far the best sounding.
@dirtybacon: I tell you I will never go back to any other keyboard. Logitech makes some of the best keyboards around. My G11 keyboard lasted me for a long time until I broke it.
Now I have a G15 and I love it. I don't like the orange LED as much as the blue but it looks damn good. The keys have this soft texture to them. Kinda make you feel like you're typing on marshmallow keys. #logitechg110
@psychonaut2021: Jesus is THE man!: Is it just the feel? I mean, do you think that the keyboard has any effect on ergonomics? I get pinky cramps often. (I know how gay that sounds, but it is from a football injury, so there!) #logitechg110
@dirtybacon: I have a G15 as well, and the USB ports alone make it worth it for me. Makes swapping flash drives easy since my computer does not have front USB ports.
I agree with Psychonaut as well, the keys of the keyboard do feel very nice. #logitechg110
@dirtybacon: The keyboard layout is pretty much standard. Actually, Gizmodo had an article on it a couple of years ago; [gizmodo.com]
Whether you're a gamer or a generic PC user, you can't go wrong with it. It also features macro keys, as well as multimedia controls. Great for when you're watching porn! The mute button has saved me many times :P #logitechg110
Wait, they want how much for that keyboard and mouse? Oddly enough, I am Just Fine Thank You with my LX710 combo - takes up a bit more space, but not much. Their 'space-saver' demonstration image appears to be comparing this 'board to my Model M, unless the K340 has minuscule Eee-sized keeeys.
Wow. When I first saw the picture I thought "a laptop with detachable screen? Really???"
And as it turns out: not really. That thing there is simply a STAND for your FULL LAPTOP.
But you heard it here first folks. Modular laptops. You'll be able to hang the screen on a wall, while you work from your wireless keyboard/mouse. Need to go somewhere? Reattach the screen to the keyboard, and pack up the mouse (or opt for the built-in keyboard nub, naturally) and you're ready to bring the whole setup in "standard laptop" form with you when you travel.
@TuxBobble: Learn your history. Dynabook Technologies came out with a modular laptop 20 years ago; you would hang the screen on the back of the airplane seat in front of you. The startup crashed. It remains a good idea, but I think it's a difficult engineering challenge to combine a removable screen with a strong enough hinge. #logitechnotebookkitmk605
@skierpage: Haha, easy sport. No need to "in my day" me. (I'm a 22-year-old engineer myself, so that's a bit before my time, excuse me for not being aware since it clearly didn't amount to much haha) Wasn't seriously proposing anything, just commenting on a novel idea.
My point remains: I'd still buy one, if it worked properly, haha.
What McDonalds are you going to where a value menu comes out to 5 bucks? It's like 8-10bucks a meal for a regular combo around here. I actually go to Applebees and Chilis because it's better food for the same price.
@Xagest: Er what? value meals are $5-6 here, and that's East Bay, SF, which has some of the highest food and cost of living in the country. Where are you, Hawaii?
I love my Steelseries Ikari. Got it at Christmas last year and haven't looked back. I missed the added weight a little at first, but found I held onto the mouse better when I got a sweaty hand from extended gaming sessions (lulz). There's not a ton of extra stuff to fuss with, just the essentials, like a mouse should have.
Though I have thought about picking up Razer's newest wireless mouse for the 2 extra buttons by the index finger. But seeing as how I don't play wow anymore, my need for more mouse buttons is very small.
I have to disagree 100%. I upgraded from an original G5 to the G500 as soon as it came in stock at my local Fry's.
I find the scroll wheel to be a major improvement over the G5. On the G5 when you clicked it either didn't register or it clicked 2-3 times. I have the exact opposite experience with my G500. The wheel click has been precise every time. I don't use the fluid scroll setting at all, I like the click.
As far as the side buttons go I find them to be very usable even with my big hands. I play TF2 a lot as well and use the closest button for voice comm and the middle button for last weapon switch and I haven't had any problem with hitting the wrong button. They're nicely grooved to be able to tell which is which to me. Also, having the extra button for back/forward navigation in browsers is nice.
Ha! I ditched my first G5 for the second G5 (with two thumb buttons) exactly because I couldn't stand how I was always side-scrolling the wheel when I wanted to click it, and I usually never change hardware until a few iterations have passed.
I don't understand why they would have made the same mistake after fixing it once.
So I'm NOT the only one who can't handle the middle button on these things.
When you spend most of your time in UNIX-land, middle-mouse-button is paste. Middle button is therefore used VERY often, and the G5 was driving me nuts. For the longest time I thought the middle button was BROKEN - I'd hear it click but nothing would paste. I replaced it three times before I figured it out.
I'm a huge Logitech fan, too - my first mouse was a Mouse Systems Mouse clone, but ever since then they've all been Logitech. I'm sad they haven't fixed the side-scroll thing. I've been too afraid to buy another mouse with side-scroll in case they ALL do this - it's a bit hard to test on the not-plugged-into-anything demo mice at stores.

No CFW on PSPGo?
No deal.
...I may be in some trouble though since my PSP-2000 is showing some age.
