Clever vehiclebot, but not a good design. If it fell over, how would it right itself? The best design is to use treads on a flipable bot. If it rolls over something that flips it over, it can keep going without problems. For taking samples, pics, etc., all it will have to do is stop, raise its equipment from closed hatches and go to work.
@GitEmSteveDave_HasAList: The plastic Lego parts themselves probably wouldn't fare too bad, but it's the electronics you have to worry about. Without the proper shielding, the radiation would probably screw with the memory. And since I doubt the system has any built-in safeguards/redundancies to protect against things like that, it means the electronics wouldn't last too long.
That program must've taken a good deal of time to drag and click. Since, the Lego Mindstorms program isn't text based. Good god, someone sure had a lot of time.
@Bob_Dole: The standard Mindstorms programming language certainly isn't, but there are at least half a dozen other languages that people have either created from scratch, modified, or just plain figured out how to make them work on the NXT. Offhand, the only one I can think of is "lejos", just because of the name, but I know there's at least one C++ variant.
3. Use of the mindstorms made it like a classic puppet show
Cons:
1.Too much shark! We get it, there are sharks.
2. No treasure? I saw a treasure map, but where is a cave full of gold, or rubies, diamonds crowns etc? Pirates sans epic treasure = Not so awesome treasure!
3. Only the new pirates? I have every one of those figs with only 2 sets, mainly the giant pirate ship.
4. Were is some classic lego? Integrate some tributes to some other sets!
@switchblade saints: If it weren't for the lifehacker article from a couple days ago for a tilt shift program I would not have had any clue what the fuck that meant.
@Tim Reid: Because, Tim (I can call you Tim, right?), Little Jimmy Brokeass can afford this on a year's saved allowance. In comparison, your gold brickin' private school science department uses First Robotics kits wrapped in rich Corinthian leather, something Little Jimmy can only touch in his dreams.
@dingus: I completely agree with your point, however I must question your willingness to completely haul off and pimp-slap a bitch as you have so proficiently demonstrated.
Might I recommend aromatherapy or perhaps acupuncture to relieve pent up stress. Or perhaps a fatty blunt, everyone is more cheerful after a nice fatty.

"The new contest will challenge small teams comprised of children and adults" - I think I might know a way around that problem.

That is one of the most worthless comments. Please, don't spew crapola here.
