This is siemenly the mho-st useless product joule ever see. I really don't have the capacitance to understand who would pay that much farad something like that. #audio
Unfortunately, to fully hear the wonderfulness of this receptacle, you must get your utility to upgrade to oxygen-free linear crystal transmission lines. Your circuit breaker need to have gold plated contacts.
Even after all that, I could still hear a lot of dirt and grime in my music. Turns out my power comes from a coal-fired plant.
I've since learned that wind power introduces a lot of wow and flutter. Nuclear will fry your electronics. The only power source that delivers pure, transparent sound is solar PV. #audio
I'm an electrician. If I could label a few .59 receps as audio grade, computer grade or iGrade, I'd be set. Hospital grade is about as good as receps get. #audio
While this is obviously bullshit, I do have a real problem with spikes in my (shitty, Middle Eastern) power supply causing my speakers to pop. Any suggestions? #audio
I'm assuming you have already tried a plain old surge protector. If you really have issues you can get an online ups, too. They always have you running off battery power while the battery is constantly recharged. I have one of the brickwall units. I'm not sure, and am too lazy to look up, what sort of power supply you might be dealing with, though. #audio
@LolpantsofArabia: I'm a little confused as to what you're referring to. The power being supplied to the device from your power company, or the power supply inside (or wall warted) your device that converts it from AC/DC (HELLS BEL... sorry). If you're referring to the power supply for the device, then replace it. If you're referring to the power being supplied from your power company you're looking for a line conditioner. Make sure you get one that can handle your device. They run about $100 at the low end, and retarded expensive at the high end. #audio
As "lakata" commented over on Boing boing, this is just a stock Leviton M5362 outlet, which retails for $14.30, but with some apparant gold plaiting, er, on the **mounting brackets**--the parts you attach to the gang box :-p I suspect the actual working parts--the wipers--haven't been touched. I'm not sure if the after-market hackery including the gold plaiting nullifies the UL listing. Might be a problem with your insurance if you house ever burns down due to a faulty outlet....
Everyone knows that the "sound" is only as good as the air which carries it!
The true audiophile will also want the "audio grade" air system which we, at RainyDayMagazine, will be making available in time for this holiday season. Pricing is not yet available, but franchise opportunities/terrotories are available!!!
The "audio grade" air will be pumped into the listening room and "refiltered" via a proprietary separation system.
After all, it is really the "air" that is the final carrier of sound between the equipment and the listener! #audio
Clearly at that price this outlet must have a UPS unit attached, because that is the only time the audio difference would be detectable to us mere mortals.
That said, who is the intended consumer of such a device? I have to assume it is someone building a 15 million plus house and says to themselves, "well, it may be bogus, but toss those suckers in the movie theatre on the west wing". Even if we all know better, it will not stop someone from spending a few hundred extra "just in case" to brag about to their billionaire neighbors when the come over to watch the latest porn flick. The audio is really important in those films. #audio
@jayhawk11: What? Why? Nothing is more convincing than staking out an impossible position and then not actually supporting it because no one would understand it or believe it anyway. #audio

Watt an enlightening review... #audio

Any Analog signal is affected by what medium it goes through.
Even though you might not be the person spending more on your Audio System than your own car, this still makes a difference.
Electricity makes static noise on it's own etc...
I'm not going to detail anymore because it's useless.
Audiophiles.
That's who this product is for. #audio
