Ok, so company A makes product x and goes out of business. Company B buys rights to product x, doesn't change it, and re-releases it. This makes sense how?

Plus, it mentions that it isn't intended for children under 12. There's a pretty small window for this toy to go from cool to "gay" with all of Johnny's friends, isn't it? #pleo

So Ugobe went under trying to sell these things, and now another company is all excited to get them and sell them themselves.

Yeah, that's a killer business plan.

@SuppleMonkey: how is it not? you don't know where the business plan failed. if the market wouldn't support the price mark-up after manufacturing this could very well survive if sold cheaper. besides there are no upstart costs because the tooling, etc is already done. most businesses never make it out of the red from start up and this company has a huge head start.

chinese manufacturing firms do this to people all the time. a company will send them a product to make and that maunfacturer just makes their version right next to the poor sap that poured his heart and soul into the thing.

@Nick: Yes, but flooding the market with a cheaper version of a product no one cares about isn't likely to work very well either.

Honestly, I don't think this product failed just because of its price point; I think there wasn't consumer interest to begin with. Maybe it's bad marketing, and the new firm can overcome that. But my prediction is that this "new beginning" will gain no more traction than the first go around.

Dinosaurs lasted millions of years before they eventually disappeared. This abomination was a flash in the pan, and not meant to be. Velociraptors would've stood up better than it against Vicious Verdict.
