Meh, after first use it would seem like too much work to keep it clean and functional... My hand-blown, swirly coloured apparatus with a stem held together by tape has taken a jolting but keeps on toking. :) #pipe
I used to love my proto-pipe. I still think it's the best designed pipe, not just in form, but in function as well. It is the only pipe I've ever seen that has the cleaning apparatus built in. #pipe
I haven't smoked in about 10 years but that thing was THE pipe in high school. My buddy had one he stole from his dad and he was like the fucking keymaster with that thing. He was Link and it was the Triforce. Keep in mind this was before any of us knew what good weed was or that glass pipes let you taste "tha good shit mon" without tasting the thing you were smoking out of.
Don't smoke pot kids. I can remember every time my friends and I discovered a new method of smoking weed, but I can't remember my Grandma's birthday.
I don't remember graduating, and my first sexual experience, I don't remember that either, but man I will never, ever forget the first time I smoked that sweet, sweet cheeba.
Up with hope, down with dope.
That must have been the shit.
That must have been shitty.
Etc, etc and so on and so forth. See! I just did it right there-I don't even know why I commented in the first place. #pipe
@otko: They are great, but the real ones have the PP on the bowl cover. that's one of the fakes. I used to love mine, gave it to a friend as a going away gift when I moved. #pipe
I can't find the article I read, but it's amazing how much butane you inhale when using a bowl, or pipe if you have it. Butane... not so good for your lungs. Although, that is a sexy pipe. #pipe
@AbnormallySane: Not much to worry about with the smoke if you only do it on rare occasion.
The people who get cancer from smoking are the ones who are pack-a-day smoker types. There's a big difference between pack-a-day smoking and doing some hookah twice a month (if that) with friends, just like there's a big difference between a glass of red every week and binge drinking beer every night, in terms of what will lead to cirrhosis of the liver etc.
Butane though sure isn't what the Native Americans started smoking way back when... #pipe
@macpatrik: A joint is probably the least effective way to smoke. You end up losing a lot of product and paper smoke is terrible for your lungs. Joints Blunts Pipes Bubblers Bongs Vaporizer & Gravity's .. would be the order of least effective to most .. vaporizing and gravities on par with one another as they both deliver 90%+ in THC
As to abnormallysane's question .. what smoke are we talking about here? Tobacco or something more green? If you're talking about the green stuff .. well, no one has developed lung cancer from smoking it, and its reported that people who smoke cigs and marijuana have a much less likely chance of getting cancer (not PROVEN, but it's been noted.. it could be just the sample size that they interviewed, but, there's no way to do any official tests yet as it's a schedule 1 with no 'medical' benefits right?
Butane will usually dissipate before you can inhale a good portion of it... and it's usually being combusted into flame. I also haven't heard of really any 'terrible' side effects from consuming it.. unless you're straight up huffing it.
@macpatrik: cuz smoking chemically bleached paper is sooooo much better... you do lose smoke on a joint... but you lose some on a bowl too... and bowls destroy your THC more... the only clean, safe, tasty way to smoke is a vaporizer. clean, effective, and a good one will pay for itself, cuz you won't lose any THC because of temperatures being too high where combustion is present, flame or flameless. #pipe
@SkirMernet: Alright stoners, listen up. All I'm saying is that smoking a joint is healthier than smoking out of a bowl or pipe, usually. Both still being relatively unhealthy.
I like joints. You probably like to smoke using something else.
And to you @SkirMernet, I use hemp papers, that are bleach free.
@blash: Actually, if you're predisposed to lung cancer you can smoke once cigarette, once, and have it increase your risk.
Cannabis is generally smoked unfiltered, or poorly filtered (ie, water pipes) so the amount of tar and large-particle smoke matter that ends up in your lungs is much greater compared to a filtered cigarette.
So it's not just nurture, but nature, when it comes to lung health. #pipe
@J France: I see the words "increase" and "risk" which means I see percentages and statistics. "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics" - Albert Einstein
There's a ridiculously large number of factors (that, by the way, lead to your "predisposition") that can contribute to lung cancer, none of them related to smoking. By your reasoning, anybody who is subjected to second-hand smoke while walking on a sidewalk or waiting for a public bus, even once, would be subject to an "increased" "risk" for lung cancer, but only if they are "predisposed" to it.
Are you for real? I'm not saying smoking doesn't cause cancer, I'm saying that extreme moderation doesn't cause cancer. And by the way you word your argument, you argue that filtered cigarettes do not cause cancer because it filters out additives like tar, which is like saying that 100% tobacco leaf hand-rolled cigarettes or cigars wouldn't cause cancer, even if you smoked 20 a day, or at least not create an "increased" "risk" (but you tell me if you only think it would happen to "predisposed" people). It's bullshit and you know it. #pipe
Working as a tech I once had to respond to a "My monitor is on fire!"
When I got there it was steam coming out of it not smoke. She denied spilling anything... and then I poured about a cup of water out of the keyboard in front of it....
Turns out she had a potted plant handing above the CRT and had over watered it and once the steam came out of the screen she hid the plant in her neighbors cubicle...
wow what a lucky guy, he happened to had a camera and manage to zoom in at the exact second his machine started to smoke, what a lucky guy he must be, it's like he knew it was going to happen. The Mega million jackpot is $325 million, i wonder if that guy can help me predict the #s.
Since the e is silent, don't you get FAKE, followed by an extended silence? (This is also the sound of one hand clapping, btw.)
Anyway, my old emac did the same thing... when I plugged it into 220V power. (No, eMacs were not dual-voltage. Yes, I thought all Apples were, also. Hence, the plugging in and the smoking and the new iMac now and whatnot.) My vote is a power spike from the "ultra-reliable" chinese power grid.

I live in Northern CA in Mendocino county where most of the weed you smoke comes from... the good of it anyway....
Well back to my point. That thing if used with quality smoking materials would clog in less that a day, bottom line.
I cant see that staying white for very long either.
good luck being an "adult" and wasting money.
use element papers and functional glass only. #pipe

Anyone remember the Protopipe? It was the pipe with built in tools. It is the Charles de Gaulle of pipe smoking equipment.
