I'm a snarky blogger, which means that I can bitch about any and everything, even if it's free.
Let's look at this from a realistic perspective:
1. Microsoft sent out free ULTIMATE versions of Windows 7 (Retail $314.99 at Adorama)
2. Reusable (possibly recycled) bags with an interesting art print on them. (At least $4.99 ea at Target or Ikea)
3. A deck of cards. (Nothing outstanding, but some people actually haven't migrated every activity to computers.)
4. Party Supplies
Well, let's see, the idea is to HAVE A PARTY for the newest, best version of Windows to date (so say the blogs, including those that begin with GIZ, and end in GIZMODO).
Wait, that's right, GIZMODO is FEATURED in a Windows 7 commercial. Let's shit on the new product, when they've recognized you're one of, if not the biggest gadget blog on the internet.
Now, my snarkyness aside, no other company (I'm lookin towards Cuppertino) has done anything near this type of promotion for an OS, or, any software as far as I'm aware. Yes, you concede at the end, but really, it's one hell of a promotion.
Windows, I tip my hat to you. And I'm going to be installing my 64bit version of 7 Ultimate this weekend....to prepare for my party.
If they really wanted it to be a party pack, it should've come with gigabytes of porn so that users can avoid potentially getting horrible computer viruses finding it themselves.
@anti-hello-kitty: closed out. But if you would like I can send you an awesome true and false quiz that Microsoft wants me to print out to make my guests take. This is why I don't have friends (or my little star).
@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher: : Not a flash. Just lights in the room. But nice attempt to unify the headliners. Coulda gotten bonus points if you'd worked in Frooch's...*ahem*...gadget review, too.
@Sir Gibler: people need to calm down. im clearly ocd about the small details and thought it was worth sharing. obviously it wasnt since it kinda exploded on me. im sorry i contributed on a post about windows 7 napkins....
There's so much hate in this comment stream, I don't know what to say. I say open up your old ass software for the first time, even if it's rotting in obsolescence. Vintage 10100101 FTW.
I dont mind the vids for those who like them, but, for myself, the vids sort of seems to glorify the naked, raw consumerist society in us that is contributing to global warming and pollution because of the packaging. I am torn since I love pretty boxes, but dont want to kill the planet to have them.
I enjoy unboxing gadgets just as much as the next nerd but I only obtain satisfaction when I'm doing the unboxing. Watching someone else do it just doesn't have the same affect. And besides you just know the person who made that unboxing video is just sneering over there saying, "Ha-ha bitches. Look what I have that you don't. You suck!!"
Actually I'm wrong. I do get some satisfaction when you guys have to return all those loaners after you're done reviewing them, so ha-ha on you!

At most, a single shot of the device and accessories that it came with is all I care about.
