Actually, only the first 2TB drive is $350 -- the rest are $550.
They keep saying there's no Apple Tax, but looking at those prices... man, they're smoking something. The only upgrade on those things even close to reasonably priced are the processors.
@HeartBurnKid: Agent of R.O.A.C.H.: Buying memory or buying storage from Apple are two things you never really want to do. You want to pay for their products, not more a price increase on another company's.
@HeartBurnKid: Agent of R.O.A.C.H.: But they actually are the same price. If you look at it, upgrading from a 640GB to 2 TB is $350. If you pop a 640GB drive into the customization, the price to up that to 2TB is the same as it is in the first drive bay.
@S-Express: Because every PC case has blue neon, metallic trimmed fans, and fluorescent cooling tubes, right? *eyeroll*
@camneil01: True, but the way Jesus was saying it, it sounds like the 2TB are $350 total, each -- that would actually be reasonable, considering Newegg sells 2TB Western Digital RAID drives for $299.
@bagellord: I'd surmise it's on the server end then. Maybe your Exchange server simply doesn't allow outside connections, and the Blackberry servier is local to it, or is an explicit exception.
Try talking to your Exchange admins, maybe they can shed some light on it.
@Brain.wav: The network admin has been trying to get it to work and has been unable. I'm betting it's on the server side and he hasn't found it since he's been busy.
@Gaucho85: I had ordered the Eris first, which I liked a little better than the Moto. But for this same reason I changed my mind, since Moto phone has the stock Android it will be getting more/faster updates than the ones with the skinned UI. The Eris is really nice though, but who knows when it'll get Android 2.0.
@zorrillaj: I went to the store with the intention of getting the droid mostly for the marginally faster processor and 2.0, but the physical keyboard and the extra $100 was kind of a turn off. I felt the Eris would eventually get 2.0 or 2.1 and the look was a lot more to my liking so. . .
@Kaiser-Machead: Well, it's quite possible that somewhere on the Internet you can also find a DIY project to repurpose your current Flashlight for a LED flEshlight too...
So Sony makes a platform built around single person games, hire companies to make shooters under the assumption that we have no friends, then link us all up by facebook?
I know gizmodo readers love facebook (judging from previous comments I have read) but am I the only one on here that does not like sharing all this information with with the world?
Also there is no way I am interesting enough for anyone to care what games I have bought or what trophies I have won on ps3, why would you post this crap on a website? This just adds to the millions of useless crap I see on peoples feeds on facebook.
@LukeDukem: I like Facebook but this is too much. I prefer the Xbox's approach more in that you get the full screen photo's and whatnot. Publishing trophies?... no thanks.
@Thee Sea: The problem with a firmware update is that it has the potential to brick any device.
I once killed my DVD burner by leaving a disc in the drive when I flashed it.
There is no 100% flawless transition. Besides, I think Sony said the problem was from people having a 3rd party HDD in their PS3 that wasn't fully compatible.
@Thee Sea: You can't expect Sony or any manufacturer to be able to predict every hardware configuration.
The reason we don't hear anything like this for the 360 is because the hardware is locked down to MS proprietary hardware. (HDDs anyone)
I'm a firm believer that human error accounts for the majority of all problems. It's also possible that the system was screwed before and people are trying to use the firmware update as an excuse to get Sony to pay the bill.
Moral of the story kiddies, leave your system stock and follow ALL directions to reduce the risk, otherwise, accept the consequences.
@00000000: The PS3 is not a computer. It is a piece of hardware that is, for all intents and purposes, nearly completely locked. Like it or not, most people using the PS3 are NOT replacing the harddrive or anything of the sort and the brick reports are coming from stock systems.
So YES, I CAN expect some to predict hardware configurations.
@Thee Sea: Still don't see eye to eye with your logic there. Everything that can/will recieve a firmware update has a chance of breaking, stock or not. S'a pretty simple concept, really.
The reason behind using the computer quip was that compys are (probably) the most common devices that you would incur any upgrading of the os/firmware. #tips
Don't get me wrong, I suppose last night, when this article appeared, I could have clicked a couple of source links to figure out that this was just a preview. Or maybe it might have been a good option to note in the article that this is just a preview.
On a lighter note - GO GET YOUR BATTLEFIELD BETA KEYS!!! Maybe I am stupid enough to think that this update was live at the time of this article, but my stupidity led me to finding that they're beta keys to be had for PS3 users exclusively. Go to ign.com and register, go to your account home page and find the link. OR just click [www.fileplanet.com]#facebookps3
Radio and TV don't give you a platform to bore others with your dribble. "Woo, look at me! Look at how much of a douche I am!" That's what Facbook and other "social networking" sites are about. The sad part about all this is that people don't even realize that they're being douche bags. They believe that talking about themselves and thinking that they're "special" is not disgustingly self absorbed. #facebookps3
@OUberLord: Perhaps a little. But it's the only way to describe what theese social networking sites are about. In addition, this is a tech blog, not a web site dedicated to me or other people. The comment section is for just that. To express your opinions.
@Noobs-R-Us: "Radio and TV don't give you a platform to bore others with your dribble. "
Really???. You know what, I'm not even going to get into how utterly ironic that statement is... moving on.
You may have some bug up your ass for Facebook and other sites because you focus on how one particular group of people use it. Don't blame the medium because some don't use it to it's best potential. #facebookps3
@karelj: "Radio and TV don't give you a platform to bore others with your dribble. "
When I wrote "you" I meant every Tom Dick and Harry in the world. Radio and TV limit who gets to dribble, whereas, no such filter exists on Facebook. Pretty much every idiot and their dog gets to talk about their utterly worthless lives. Can you imagine if anyone who wanted to get on TV or the radio gets to? How utter digusting it would become? Not that some of it isn't already with those reality shows. #facebookps3
@Noobs-R-Us: Like @00000000 and @Sparts said - you need better friends to follow. You are still blaming the platform for the behavior of some.
I understand that you despise the behavior exhibited by certain people, but you are completely ignoring the many positive things that Facebook can accomplish. #facebookps3
