Please Microsoft, bring the Zune HD to Europe asap! My euro's are just waiting here ready to be send to your bankaccount in exchange for one of these players and the ZunePass subscription plan.
@dsh: The ZHD is some seriously nice hardware. I'll give it that, but what exactly qualifies it as the best? I could think of a couple possible cons off of the top of my head.
-single platform
-lacks support for a mic (thus no possibility of VOIP for this model)
These two things may be very minor, however I've yet to see the considerable advantages, other than that there seems to be growing favor for the desktop software, and that the ZHD has a beautiful display. Overall, I would not trade in my iPod touch for a Zune HD. My touch does a great deal more than the HD can.
@Kaiser-Machead: If you just factor the media playback component of the HD, it still hands the iPod Touch its ass, especially when comparing the sound quality, which I find to be seriously lacking in the iPod Touch. The Zune sound quality is so much more full and rich, whereas the iPod Touch sound quality is empty and hollow. I have a classic for my car and when using it with my headphones, it sounds like shit. The Touch, from what Ive heard on my UE EB's, sounds slightly worse.
But I agree. The Zune HD is missing everything else that the Touch can do, and that kind of kills it. But for those who wish to have the best experience playing their stored media, nothing touches it in terms of delivered quality, be it visual or aural.
@Kaiser-Machead: If you only want to listen to music and watch Video on a PMP the Zune is better. If you do more and need it to attach to more the iPod Touch is the better choice. It's all about what you need it to do.
The Zune is finally showing Microsoft can do something right when it wants to.
P. S. To Xbox fans, the Xbox 360 was extremely buggy and Xbox lost the company millions so it doesn't count. It was not done right and was another example of throwing money where they didn't need to. That said I like the Xbox 360 now but if they didn't have more money than God when it came out they would be out of the business now.
3 colours that look almost the same and only girls would want to use (and no girl wants or even knows what a Zune HD is).
And newsflash Gizmodo, that "Magenta" is cobalt and the first one is definitely Magenta. Either Microsoft named them wrong on purpose or they are colourblind.
First of all, way to be sexist. I'm pretty fond of the purple myself. I thought everyone was passed the blue = boy, pink = girl philosophy. You'd be surprised how many guys/girls like the opposite 'sex' color.
Second, none of those are cobalt. You must be colorblind and Microsoft has named these correctly.
Lastly, I personally know a few girls who want a Zune HD.
First of all, The red one with all the frreaky styley design shit on it is cool as he double toothpicks.
Secondly... I really want to know if anyone has tried the ZunePass Music Subscription Service. I am thinking about it and it sounds like a No-Brainer...
Thirdly... I played with it and until the Zune HD gets apps, the iPod touch is nicer but the ZunePass can swing me, maybe.
@gumwrapper: The bad (read:HORRIBLE, NIGHTMARISH) thing about the ZunePass is that you never actually own any of your music, and you'd have to keep paying $15 a month for the rest of your life to continue listening to your music. If you ever want to switch, you're totally fucked.
Yes you can draw on the iPod touch.. There are like 3,000 doodling apps of varying complexity..
@jellotime91: Actually you are horribly wrong about ZunePass. for $15 a month you get 10 songs to keep for the rest of your life in mp3 format(read no DRM) plus for that month you can stream or download any song in the entire catalog.
FYI: If you don't know what the hell you are talking about please try not to post a response to a persons legitimate question.
@gumwrapper: I use the ZunePass and for me it is everything I want from a service. Download the software and use the trial of Zune Pass available to you, this will allow you to see what the service offers better than any opinion can, the service is really built around the idea of music collection (e.g. smartDJ) and has come along a lot in the last few iterations. Just keep in mind the "Keep 10" thing they do, it adds a lot of value.
For me it's near perfect, for you it may be pointless, only you can tell.
@BobotheTeddy: You're right, I meant to say purple. I'm assuming the purple is the bluish-grey one, and the magenta is the light pink one. But that's a guess.
@collectiveego: No. Apple has a 100% personal computer, portable media player, MPEG layer 3 player, and media box market share. No one has any interest in any other company, and Apple is king.

It is much better than the iPod Touch.
It is not as good as the iPhone because it is not a phone.
