Premiere, TiVo's Next HD DVR Possibly Revealed in Instruction Manual Mix Up

When Patrick McCarron received his new TiVo HD, he noticed something odd about the included instructions. They were explaining how to "setup TiVo Premiere or Premiere XL." Could this be a sneak peek at TiVo's newest hardware? More »

Comcast's Net Neutrality Case Settlement a Win For the Internet

Comcast, the largest ISP in the US, settled their $16m data discrimination lawsuit Wednesday. They didn't admit wrongdoing and customers are only eligible for a $16 award. But, importantly, they set a precedent for other ISPs: Throttle at peril! [Yahoo]

Basically Every ISP Is Trying to Scare You Into Paying for Internet You Don't Need

You thought AT&T was screwing unsuspecting customers into paying obscene bandwidth bills with ridiculous claims of stuff you can't do? Time Warner says you can't have 3 people on the internet without at least 15Mbps. Oh, it gets worse. More »

Remainders - The Good, Bad and Ugly Things We Didn't Post (and Why)

In today's very special episode of Gizmodo Remainders, Microsoft admits to plagiarism, Comcast unveils a streaming video service, and stop reading this right now because you could develop nearsightedness. Plus, does anyone actually use MacDonald's Wi-Fi? More »

Whoever Writes Comcast's Movie Descriptions Is a Genius

This astute synopsis of Lindsay Lohan's ultra-meta pièce de résistance isn't a fluke—no, over at Comcast, movie summarization has been elevated to an artform. That, or their whole staff has a raging pill habit. Either way! More »

How 30 Rock's Jack Donaghy Feels About Comcast Swallowing NBC

Alec Baldwin reveals how his GE-jingoist counterpart on 30 Rock, Jack Donaghy, will take the news about Comcast buying a majority stake of NBC. It's sort of how I feel, but about life, and without an office. [Media Decoder]

Can I complain about Comcast for a minute? Thanks
About three weeks ago on a Sunday, cable tv went out- phone and internet were fine. By Thursday, we'd had enough of watching tetris blocks fill the screen followed by "your service will continue momentarily"
They came out and it turned out to be a bad splitter, so they swapped it out and everything is fine.
Three weeks later, I get a service charge added onto my bill- $28. I hardly find this fair. I called CS and got no help from the lady. All she offered was to sell me a protection plan for a buck fifty a month. I asked to speak with a supervisor. After being on hold for a long time (total phone call 34 minute 29 seconds) Logan answers. He tells me that because the problem was inside my house and not outside, that they have to charge me for it. Bull shit I say. I've had this service three months and a part they provided fails and they want me to pay for it. I bitched that it was unfair and then said what about the 5 days I was out service. He offered me EIGHT DOLLARS. $8. I took it, his name and hung. Up. I know it's only $20 I'm out, but with them spending BILLIONS to buy a network corporation and refusing to budge on $20, I want to fight back. What should I do?

    The Comcast-NBC Merger Nutrition Facts

The Comcast-NBC merger is going to be a huge bag of hurt for everyone. A cable company owning a channel that reaches 99% of U.S. homes, controlling 1 out of every 5 TV viewing hours? Doesn't seem healthy to me. More »

Let's Look At Credit Score Rankings by Email Domains

Ranking the highest according to a sample of 20,000 credit scores and their corresponding email addresses are BellSouth and Comcast, with Gmail trailing right behind. Reasonable enough, but what's AOL doing anywhere but at the bottom? [Mashable]
