100Mbps Comcast Coming Soon? |

1. Is this truly going to be a dedicated and guaranteed 100 Mbps connection? My experience with Comcast is that you can sometimes reach their maximum bandwidth, but often times cannot.
2. What is the point? I apologies because I have asked this before and have gotten some answers, but none that truly address why someone would need such a fast connection. Maybe for a place of business where you have a hundred folks using it, but at home? It seems like a waste to me, and this is from someone with a 50 Mbps home connection who cannot figure out what I am supposed to do with that, either. (Yes, yes - porn -- I know. But there is only so much porn one person can watch.)

Anyone know how those compare?

Technically, porn will reach you just as quick on a 15 Mbps as a 100 Mbps one, it just happens that the 100 Mbps connection is a fatter pipe to get more content through your hole at once. Personally, I like my porn to come to me at a slower steady pace than all in one giant spurt.

We use to be Comcast customers, keywords: use to be. The first day FiOS was available to my home, we signed on. However, Comcast, knowing that Verizon's network was going online, decided to bump up our broadband. On a 6MB/s plan, we got speeds close to 17MB/s. It was nothing more than a simple act of desperation, and we chose Verizon anyway. I'm on a 30/10 plan with Verizon, but the best part is no cap, as of right now.
We stream a lot of shows in our home from a media server. When we found out that goes against our cap limit, we found out that we have no other choice but Verizon.

I use the internet a lot, but I couldn't possibly justify $380 for myself on it, regardless of how fast. I'd rather wait until it reaches like, I dunno, 3 gigabytes per second.
