Universally loathed, he faked his own death in 2007 only to resurface again in 2009 after a judge ordered a permanent injunction on Microsoft Word sales.

With his revenue finally dried up, he could no longer support the massive drug habit he developed over the last two years as a means of coping with his demons. This final injustice was simply more than Clippy could stand. Although, it's hard to feel sorry for him because he just sucked so...so much. [Tonight Show]

<![CDATA[Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan Bring Goofy Inventions on Conan, Get Made Fun Of]]> The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan, of the Discovery Channel's Pitchmen as well as countless infomercials, went on Conan last night to show off some of their products. Conan was mercilessly hilarious.

Basically, Conan said what we're all thinking: why do we need this stuff? He even got in a stab at Mays for his rivalry with the ShamWow guy. Love that Conan.

<![CDATA[Conan O'Brien Reacts to His Super Mario Bros-Themed Backdrop]]> On last night's The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien (god, that feels great to type), Conan responded to those who noticed his backdrop's uncanny resemblance to a certain mushroom kingdom.

Looks like Conan agrees with Nintendo that intentional or not, it's pretty great. [Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Nintendo On Conan's New Mario-Style Backdrop: "That's Great"]]> Intentionally or not, Conan's new backdrop looks like it was constructed by a team of Mario level designers, circa 1992. Asked about the homage/coincidence, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime sounded pretty pleased: "That's great."

It was Kotaku who caught up with Reggie, after Seriouslunch made the initial spotting:

We know that he is a fan of what we do, and we're thrilled to have him as a passionate Nintendo fan. Maybe we'll have to go play some Wii Sports Resort as well as Super Mario Bros Wii.

Thanks for the free advertising! Now, have some more advertising!

The bonus jokey followup: Will Nintendo be issuing a C&D for NBC's blatant infringement?

"No. For Conan, we'll let that one slide."

<![CDATA[Conan's New Backdrop Sure Looks Familiar…]]> Conan's new Tonight Show set sure is nice, but the guys at Serious Lunch noticed that his new monologue backdrop looks pretty familiar. As in Mushroom Kingdom familiar.

Chen and I are in disagreement as to whether or not this is intentional. I say it's a coincidence, but he's convinced that Mario was a definite inspiration for this background. What do you guys think? [Serious Lunch]

<![CDATA[Al-Qaeda Endorse Microsoft Zune on Conan]]> Those who've been tuning in to Conan O'Brien may have noticed a certain endorsement made by the al-Qaeda. Oh, we're not talking about politics; we mean MP3 players. Because there's nothing terrorists like more than hanging out in caves, cranking up the Zune and watching Bill Bellamy break it down in his vintage MTV clips. [Thanks Brian!]

<![CDATA[Conan Wastes Time By Playing With OS X Photo Booth Filters]]> If you hosted your own daily talk show and had to kill 43 minutes of air with no writers backing you up, you'd eventually pull out stuff you have lying around the office and try and make a sketch out of it. This is exactly what Conan does, making with the OS X Photo Booth Filters like every teenage kid who visits an Apple store. Except when Conan does it, it's kinda creepy. [Late Night]

<![CDATA[Mad Katz to Make Wireless and Wired Rock Band Instruments]]> Mad Katz, maker of mediocre third-party gaming peripherals, has just signed a deal with MTV and Harmonix to start pumping out instruments for Rock Band of both the wireless and wired variety. On the one hand, having cheap, wireless Rock Band equipment would be awesome for people who want to get a bass player rocking with them. On the other hand, if the first-person peripherals are failing left and right, what do you think the rate of success on Mad Katz's take on them will be? 75%? 50%? It might not be pretty. After the jump, Mad Katz's announcement as well as an amazing video of Conan O'Brien and his staff playing Rock Band.

"This agreement with MTV Games represents a natural opportunity for Mad Catz to combine our core competencies of producing and distributing high-quality accessories with the entertaining experience of Rock Band's interactive controllers," said Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz. "Mad Catz will produce premium instruments, allowing gamers and music fans to experience music in an entirely new light while taking on the personality of their favorite music idols."

"The addition of the Rock Band license is consistent with Mad Catz' stated goal to align ourselves with the most attractive brands and highly-anticipated software releases while seeking additional accessory opportunities to further diversify and grow our revenue base. With the ability to appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers alike, Rock Band is one of the most highly acclaimed releases of the 2007 holiday season and beyond."

<![CDATA[Conan O'Brien Smashes Serena Williams in Wii Tennis]]>
Conan O'Brien played Wii Sports Tennis with Real Tennis star Serena Williams and ran wild all over her. For all of the utter garbage that's on YouTube, it's clips like this that make it worthwhile. Was anyone else concerned that Conan was going to let go of the Wiimote and break something?

Thanks, Jeremy!
