    Inflation and the ever rising cost of healthcare.

    "Ohhhh, dismemberment. Yeah, I'm afraid that surgery costs an arm and a leg, and you look a little... short. NEXT!" #thiscyborglife

    Too bad I didn't see this article back in May 2008. I would have short-sold the crap out of the 6 million dollar man. #thiscyborglife

    We can rebuild him for a lot less if we get that Chinese guy to build him out of spare parts laying around his house.

    So, $6M/.23 = just shy of $26.1M today.

    Wolfram Alpha says that a dollar in 2008 would be worth $1.02 today, so the value of a dollar really hasn't shifted all that much since the CNN report. #thiscyborglife

    In reply to Sony: We're Not Cutting PS3 Prices Tomorrow
    Maybe if they spent a little less on aggressively marketing their overpriced 'box-I-want-to-buy-but- don't-actually-need', they'd be able to afford a price cut?

    @299 the PS3 sells itself.

    Sony knows it, and they DO have plans for a price cut. They just can't tell us all they're going to announce a price drop at E3. They wouldn't sell any consoles between now then...

    It's coming, and my money's on an E3 announcement, (along with unveiling a $700 Final Fantasy XIII bundle no doubt).

    In reply to Sony: We're Not Cutting PS3 Prices Tomorrow
    well, look at it this way. Sony is still losing money on each PS3 sold. Even if they were able to minimize the losses over the last two years, to price cut now would just make them bleed money all over again. Not lowering the price isn't going to help move consoles. But lowering the price is going to hurt your bottom line even more.

    Sucks big time.

    I'm sitting on $498 in Gamestop credit after dumping my "in the closet for over a year" 360 and some other swag. I WANT to get another PS3 but if there's going to be a price drop, I'll wait. From a gamer's perspective, Sony has no choice but to lower the price and take the financial hit in the ass. 360 and Wii sales are killing them at retail.

    Even after the 360 has dropped prices a couple times, Sony still fails to budge. You'd think with the excessive mocking they got for innumerable units being left on the shelf shortly after launch that they would rethink their game plan.

    @Nathan Nash: The 360 had to drop their prices because MS realized if both consoles cost $300 and you had to choose between the 360 and the PS3 with a blue ray drive, wifi, and HD, you pick the PS3.

    And lets not forget that PSN is free, while Xbox live is a monthly cost.

    Not bashing either console, but 360 costs less for a good reason: it has less features.

    @marm0lade:

    I'd say the 360 has DIFFERENT features... not less features. It's just a matter of which features people value and are more marketable. I bought an extra 360 just for it's Media Center extender abilities. It's now a 2TB Tivo with no monthly subscription... WOOT!

    @marm0lade: agreed. I just backed up my PS3 and let me tell you, having a 250GB HDD in that sucker is a godsend... you know..PSN games, games saves, game data, PSP games, PS1 games, UT3 mods (mine clocks in at about 7 GBs alone last I checked) Divx movies, PSN movies, PSN TV shows, PSN animations, internet borrowed anime. porn... My back up file is 121GBs and I'm looking to upgrade to a 500GB HDD soon.

    Whenever we get the adhoc party update the built in wifi is going to be aces and I have a 1TB of external storage that's connected to my PS3. I'm going to get another one and use it as a dedicated server for MG Online, Warhawk, Killzone2 and UT3.
