just like all those millionare CEOs that f*cked the USA economy and bankrupted companies ...they still left with gazllions of $$$.

but this is capitalism...screw the workers..its all $$$$!

"Dell hopes to trim $3 billion off its annual spending"

well I guess they can start buy not sending me junk mail, and simply make better computers, if you have to layoff people better, to do it quick and be done with it then have all your employees living in fear of being fired, depression doesn't make people work harder.

This is better method to cut cost rather then firing off your employees. I like DELL.

I don't know about Dell being a good computer...But Dell has always been doing this. When i went to ITT i knew slues of people getting laid off because Dell didn't want to have to pay unemployment before the fired them so they would keep them on just long enough. It was stupid. And not suprised. Horrible company.

They made their reputation from selling good computers, but most people these days aren't going to buy a system they don't need. Everyone is feeling it, I spoke with someone at Bose and it's the same deal, there just aren't enough buying high end items, even if they are good quality.

Before doing this I would wait to see if President Obama lends some optimism to the economy, and if now we have a decision, people are more ready to spend. Dell has never been a bargain, but being in that business for 15 years I never heard more bad about them than good. I just can't figure how they, along with other companies didn't stockpile cash like Microsoft has in case of tough times.

I am not surprised, but I have one that tops Dell. I am a current employee of a major wireless carrier (think yellow) and they also gave any employee up to 30 days of unpaid days off-no questions asked! We are also in a "cost savings" mode and almost fell off my chair when that was announced over a month ago in our company.

Dell would also like to remind their employees that taking unpaid time off without an approval 6 months in advance is grounds for termination. And you must take your 5 days of unpaid time of within the next 6 months.

as a former Dell employee that was laid off last spring...this isn't news. He announced last year that they need to cut overhead. I'm glad i sold my stock it's like 15 bucks or something like that now. Still find it strange that they manage to gross 60 billion a year.

Soooooooo, who's going to do the work that these folks would have been doing, selling computers, building them, shipping them places, etc. while they're off not getting paid and not at work?

IS M. Dell going to magically squeeze blood from a stone?
