    It's a matter of human dignity and social awareness. No matter how innocent his intentions were, it's just tasteless. Poking around at a V.A. hospital would have been downright offensive. But asking around talent agencies or actors guilds would have been the more appropriate thing to do-- much more difficult, but much more appropriate. Amputees have played roles in such movies as "Dawn of the Dead," "Saving Private Ryan," and "Starship Troopers."

    You're right, that's very offensive, why should people who are missing their legs be able to have fun? Or go out on Halloween, or, better yet, be part of a cool costume? This just disgusts me. I hope someone does something about this as soon as possible. (Sarcasm...Jesus Christ, grow up. The guy was trying to go about it as nicely as possible. Would you make a big stink like this if the amputee was looking for someone big to play the part of chewbacca? Before you lie to me and yourself, face it..no, you wouldn't. So just because he's looking for someone with no legs, stop throwing all of this mercy pity in the air for people who you don't even know take offense to this! Relax! GEEZUS CHRIST!)

    I have not problem with that whatsoever, and it might be the greatest night of some amputee's life.

    This is not 1% as offensive as the tons of vile porn all over the net. (Not that all porn is vile, but tons of it is.)

    @ezrashapiro: Why does everyone keep assuming that an amputee (not paraplegic) wouldn't have a night on the town without this guy? Again, note how the ad writer doesn't even offer to hit any parties the answerer may have on his/her list. That's the part that offends me. (And keeps offending me by multiple commenters who keep playing the "Awww wouldn't it be nice to give the poor lonely amputee something to do for a night..." card as if it's charity.) #craigslistad

    @witeowl: That's a good point. I don't get out much. When I did, I don't remember seeing amputees too often, though. Perhaps the stigma stems from what seems to be the norm. Either way thanks for the heads up. #craigslistad

    @witeowl: We're not assuming that an amputee wouldn't have a night on the town without this guy. We're assuming that IF there happens to be an amputee that wouldn't be having a night out on the town with this guy, it's possible that he might appreciate the opportunity this guy's offering.

    I suppose you're of the type that would like to see "freakshows" banned as "inappropriate" too, eh?
