    @TurboTexas: It's not a matter of being sensitive. It's a matter of crossing a line. It's fun to be all wild and wooly here on the Giz frontier but you need to know the difference between being edgy and witty vs. being bluntly moronic.

    While we're on the subject of Vietnamese (and I'm being serious here)


    Can anyone explain to me why that delicious Vietnamese soup has the Latin spelling of "Pho" when the actual pronunciation of the dish is more like "fua"?


    It doesn't work in French either.


    I've been really curious for the past six months when I realized that I've been pronouncing it wrong all my life as "Fo'" (but at least not like "po'" as I've heard some other folks do).

    The accent is a tiny sliver cut from the horn of a magical unicorn, thus accounting for the transformation.
