i like what HT is doing with their phones/pc's. They bring touch screens to the masses and i guess thats pretty cool but really what I wish for is a phone that used some kind of app to connect peoples fb and iab accounts like giz uses. iphone came close with 'safari mobile," but its nowehre near perfect
@ryanbrenner: ryan brenner, you smell like pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. You can be smelled from yards away. You taste, if I were stupid enough to try such a thing, like eating sweet raspberry blancmange in the lavatory, and completely rotten, mushy onions. Really, your taste can only be described as...indescribable, something you will either love or despise. ...Your breath will smell as if you'd been French-kissing your dead grandmother after consumption. It is for this reason I will not flame ryan brenner, but rather ask him, are you a Durian?
@ryanbrenner: You, sir, and I use the term generously here, are a worthless troll. Nobody wants you here, nobody cares about your comments which are worthless and of poor quality, and, personally, I would like to see you go step in front of a bus. You have no value to Gizmodo or any other group, including your own family. You really should just go kill yourself.
@Faceless Internet Commenter: OK, we get it. You think that the iPhone is the best thing ever made and that every Verizon phone ever made is crap. Saying so one time was sufficient, though.
Ya know, not every phone has to be revolutionary. Some people only need a phone that is good for texting and basic GPS and basic internet. Not everyone needs a phone that has thousands of apps made for it and not everyone wants to pay $200 for their phone. Remember, Env2s are phones that can be picked up at Wal-Mart for $50. It's a niche product that happens to have a pretty large niche. If you want a phone that can do a lot of things, get a Blackberry, iPhone, or G1 and don't complain that there are phones that are made for people who don't need all of those features.
The UI looks a bit primitive and MOTO-tastic. But the simplicity of design is okay. It kind of reminds me of cheesy 70s sci-fi and I don't know whether to award it points for that.
Personally, with the green look and the vague Buck Rogers/SF look of it, I think Sony should have gone whole hog and thrown in a bunch of hexagons. Like hexagon buttons with an offset hexagon background faintly visible at off angles.
I was done with Nokia after the N-Gage I owned (the elephant ear model, not the QD). It sucked, and then it WSOD'd. The problem results from a design flaw, but Nokia denies any responsibility, forcing its users to pay for a firmware upgrade. This problem also affected the Nokia 3650 and Nokia E65.
@kaubuchon: you are a serial carrier switcher. You need to commit to a single carrier, at least for a while, even if things aren't perfect. If not for you, then for the children!
@Kaiser '3D' Machead: I was thinking the exact same thing. Im psyched that the Pre is going to be great, but I wish that it was on a better network. Out where I live, cell phone reception is sporadic at best with most carriers (other than AT&T) which limits us to what we can have...
@Kaiser '3D' Machead: Are you kidding... Sprint is awesome. I don't understand all this hate for Sprint. Their signal, voice quality and 3g service are awesome.
@tenazrael: I don't necessarily hate Sprint, as I've never used them, but so far, there's nothing compelling enough about them to switch over from T-Mobile. If the Pre was available to me on my own network, I'd certainly keep it in mind. But it ain't, so for me personally, it's unfortunate.

If the guys at Samsung are still amazed by a hot air balloon, then we've got some really cool steampunk smartphones a-comin'.
