You build him. He moves, talks, takes pictures, records video, has intruder detection, and built in VOIP. And you can control him remotely over the Internet.
So the next time you're at the beach and your brother comes by to steal your videos, you can sneak up on him, sound the alarm, yell at him, watch his reaction, and even post the recording to youtube.
@VViley: It's got too much going on. It's very cool, but like Pleo and a few other products, it's just too much a platform to be lumped in with these toys.
@Log1c: We asked. According to Tomy, there's no loaner inventory this year. Meaning Tomy's not even interested in publicizing it. Meaning you probably shouldn't be buying something they don't even want to ENTER into a Battlemodo.
@Kaiser-Machead: I think a better name for Rolly would be iKick - because everytime I see that thing, I just want to punt it for some reason. Is anybody really gonna buy that when a PS3 is the same price?
@EBone: I work at the Sony Style store, and at first, I loved the little guy. I thought it was hilarious, but, having to stand at a desk for eight hours a day listening to the SAME FOUR SONGS over and over again (they won't let us load our own), I've started to hate it...just a little bit. But, to answer your question, yes. We've had the Rolly for about six months now, I believe, and I want to say I've seen about ten-fifteen people buy it, and no returns of it that I've seen.
@Kaiser-Machead: I sure hope it gets cooler than its performance against the robots in the video above, 'cuz a few light color changes and some flapping don't seem that exciting.

Saw him for $229 at Costco.
