Mediocre concept not worth my money. Plus, who listens to CDs anymore anyway? If I'm downloading it to my computer, I'll dump it straight onto my player - not a CD.
@OMG! Ponies!: The blank CD-R is more than a means to listen to music. Its being used as a symbol to support pirating of his music. Did you expect him to include an iPod Shuffle? Everybody is missing the point. So be it if you dont like his music but the concept is ground breaking. I probably wont buy the book but will be keeping my ear open to see how this plays out.
@pdditty: And this can't be accomplished with a PayPal donation icon because?
Don't get me wrong... I paid $10 for the NIN and Radiohead albums because I agreed with the concept of pay what it's worth to you and liked the notion of working outside of a studio distribution model.
I think my problem is that this (to my thinking) falls squarely within the realm of "clever"; I'm not a big fan of "clever". If I want to support a cause, I'll click a Donate icon.
He's going to show EMI that his music belongs to the criminals and the corrupt. People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy. He can't do this simply with a PayPal button. A PayPal button is just an image and a hyperlink and can be ignored or destroyed. But as a symbol... as a symbol -- a blank CD-R, it can be incorruptible, everlasting....
Or, instead of buying this stupid "album", I could just buy a regular blank CD-R and torrent the music. I mean, who would really want a 100+ page book of pictures inspired by Dangermouse?
Don't you see what the artist is doing? He is basically saying f-you to his label, and encouraging people to go out and torrent his music.
If people are a fan of him as an artist, they will buy the album for the book.
HE IS TELLING PEOPLE TO PIRATE HIS ALBUM. Clearly you comment is borderline retarded and you have no desire to buy the book. Also, most people don't even burn CDs these days, they listen on their MP3 player, have an audio-input connection in their car to play their music from their player, stream their files to a music player, listen on their computer etc.
So why are you even paying for a CD-R?
You honestly do not deserve that star judging by that comment.

Who's going to be next on the anti-record label bandwagon?

It's not really anti-label, it's anti-major label.

Ha, I didn't even see your comment before I replied to the idiot above. Just what I was thinking!
