Guys I am so sorry I can't. Sunday is the day I toil on the farm. So I'll be outside in the cold and wind cleaning up after horses. If I could be up in NY helping you all, I totally would. I promise that next time, I volunteer to help you set up, tear down, let you use my car rear-window LED scrolling sign, my plug in battery charger, etc... all for the asking. If I have advanced warning, I can get someone to take care of the horses. Sorry again.
Also, I can't wait to hear how the Toys-4-Tots collection went. With all the great stuff going on, I kept forgetting that there was a charity that was being helped. I am happy I found someone who was willing to take that "20 questions" machine from me, as i swear it's magic, and it frightens me.
SteveDave checking in here. Watching the live feed is killing me. If I didn't have something important already planned tonight, I would totally show up again. Of course, I would also plan my escape from NY to NJ better than I did last night. In the end, I walked into my house at around 9:15am Saturday morning, after a lovely trip through the NJ public transit rail system.
But as for yesterday? I can't describe how AMAZING it was to see all of the cool displays and gizmos you guys had set up. The only thing that topped it was the people. Getting to meet face to face with everyone who have stolen so much of my productivity, from the commentors to the writers, made all the various odorous people I was forced to sit next to while traveling home worth it. I apologize to everyone whom I have forgotten due to the copious amount of beer I had ingested and how bad I am with names. I should have written down things. D'Oh. When this happens again, I think any commentors who go should make up a little nametags featuring our Gizmodo names and possibly our avatars, as it's so few of us use our "real" picts for our avatars. The Deloreon was so cool, and all night long you could see flashes from outside as people took pictures with it(I should have taken a picture near it with my "Clint Eastwood" hat).
There were also some real funny moments, the best of which, at least to me, happened at the meetup. From the great line the doorman gave me when I said "Howdy" to him(I forget what exactly he said, but my excuse was I was from Jersey), to the hilarity that ensued when we were asked our names inside the door, to see if we were on "the list"(Do you have GitEmSteveDave listed? Girl:"Are you kidding me?" OK, how about Andy Williams, Ponies, etc...). I don't think I will ever miss another meet-up again as long as it's in NYC. I will be posting picts on my Photobucket page here if anyone wants to look: [s165.photobucket.com]
@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy->★: BTW, if anyone has photos of me, and either your iPhone didn't crash or your lens didn't shatter, if you could send a copy my way, I'd be much appreciative. If you didn't recognize me by my name tag, I pretty much the only guy wearing a cowboy hat at the event Friday.
@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy->★: The second picture I got with the iPhone didn't crash it. I don't know if I want to risk trying to put your contact info in. I suspect that the magic elves that power my iPhone are scrubbing themselves in the shower, rocking and muttering "Still not clean, still not clean".
Still, the fact that your mere visage has the power to interfere with an iPhone 3G's basic functions makes me question (1) the stability of 2.2; (2) whether you will use your power for good or evil; (3) whether you are our last defense against the upcoming iNsurrection; (4) how you're computer set-up at home remains stable with repeated exposure to your face; (5) the existence and meaning of god.
yeah...sorry about last night. some jackass parked a delorean in the spot I called dibs on, and I ended up having to park 5 blocks away and got a meter ticket.

The first post on the site now is "Holocaust museum founder dies" and then rails on the news for reporting this...
I know that the Chuck E. Cheese fight thing is funny, but do you really need white supremacist sponsored videos to go along with it?

just kidding. I have a small coupe, so there's no way it would fit in my trunk

I would have loved to come and help, but I'm nowhere near the city, and wouldn't get there until late tonight.
