Heh, cool. I actually live in Decatur. Not that I care about this virtual city thing. I fail to see the point and I have to wonder why they think it's a good idea to spend money on this. The government should focus on upgrading our crappy municipal wifi that you can find everywhere, but seldom use.

@nfreader: It's probably mostly a tourism thing, if you are planning on traveling to/near Decatur/Atlanta and you are researching accommodations/attractions online and you find this, you will probably get sucked in and waste all your researching time looking at bars/shows/restaurants/hotels/etc that are located in Decatur rather than spending some/most of that time looking at the same things in other nearby areas through the "old school" research medium aka regular websites.

It's actually not a bad idea from a tourism standpoint, but at the same time its kinda shistey since you are more/less monopolizing peoples travel research time.

This thing's advantages/potential for local government otherwise I believe are shaky at best. Unless of course the local government feels that they don't get enough input from the snarky, porn-obsessed online dating crowd.

So, why is the local government so interested in building a vr singles chat service?

T-minus 12hrs and counting to naked man avatar filled virtual Decatur.

I bet the local motels where you can pay by the hour will be the first to sign up for virtual store fronts...
