Slick looking hardware, but I have to say I don't see much point for these devices. They're too large to be pocketable, yet too small to be very functional. And they don't offer enough of an advantage over mobile phones even for entertainment purposes. This with a 7" screen and a sliding keyboard might be a great little device around the home as a surfing pad and out of the home would make a decent business device, but being right between a smartphone and a netbook is no a niche that needs to be filled. #dellstreakmidleaked

@weatherman: Here's the niche. People who want an Android device, but don't want to have to pay a cell phone carrier an extra $45 a month for it. Smart phone data plans can be expensive for some.

I have an EnV Touch phone now, which is the closest you can get to a smartphone without it being one, and the data plan is $15, and it can handle just about all the web browsing I would want to do on the go anyway. $15 Vs $50 is a huge difference on a monthly basis.

I would love to have an android device though to be able to tweak it and play with apps and such, which I don't necessarily need it to be a phone to do that. So this would be perfect for someone like me. #dellstreakmidleaked

@hardcache: so you dont have the money to lay down for a smart phone and plan but you have oo say $350 (im guessing) to put down on this. it would be cool to have for that reason dont get me wrong but your logic doesnt make sense #dellstreakmidleaked

@weatherman: I think that market that you sugested would want a 7" device would want this. I think 5" is the prime spot. At 7" inches, just get a netbook.

While this isn't as pocket-able as a phone, it still is very portable and easily slipped into a briefcase or purse.

With it having Android as well as being Wifi and 3G capable, the possibilities are endless. #dellstreakmidleaked

@emcdannell09: Paying $350 one time fee is ok for sme including me.

But then if it increases my phone bill by $50 per month then that's more significant as now I'm paying an extra $600 on my phone bill after a year. #dellstreakleak

@jp182: Well if you use hardcache's math, it's an increase of $35 to go to a smartphone ($50 versus his current $15 data plan for his Envy) which would still put the break even in 10 months. The smartphone still doesn't look like a great proposition with those assumptions. However, unlimited data plans are usually $30 (at least here in the US) so the savings is actually only $15/month. That takes the break even point to almost two years. Plus the smartphone adds some benefits. You don't have an extra device to carry and you get coverage anywhere you have decent signal. If he planned on getting something like this and only using the WiFi, then he's limited to where he can find access. That still means paying for it in some places. #dellstreakleak

@FigNinja: I do live in the US, and Verizon Wireless is $50 a month for unlimited data on a smartphone.

the only place I would pay for wifi is my house, which I have anyway. Most public places that have wifi it is free. I'm going to pay anything extra for wifi. If I'm out and I really need to look something up I still have my phone, which is considerably cheaper. #dellstreakleak
