@MitchellChris:
I disagree.
In terms of performance they match up pretty evenly, both use bluetrack, have similar wireless speeds, both have macro options, and both have an insane amount of DPI (most of which is superfluous). The play and charge cable for the Sidewinder has received more praises than the Mambas equivalent in comparative reviews though combined with the Sidewinders awesome vertical side button positioning.
The biggest reason why the Mamba doesn't beat the Sidewinder in my opinion though?
The Mamba is twice the price of the X8.
The Mamba is good I'll grant you that but it's not worth the cost of two Sidewinders by a long way.
@UnderLoK:
Yeah that's the only complaint people have had about the Sidewinder is that it's too large. I personally find it more comfortable that way, it's not really excessively large anyway. But I still don't think the Mamba is worth paying twice as much over it.
I considered putting something about how "The Best Video Game Console: Xbox 360" made me let out a heavy sigh of disappointment. But then I decided not to. Oh, wait a minute...
@VenomIreland: well, mostly because they provide no explanation in the article proper (didn't check the link). The ps3 has seen some incredible first party titles this year, has BD built in, free online network, introduced slimmer hardware, lower price point, netflix (with no Gold subscription required). Not to mention that ps3 reliability trumps the xbox all day (RROD's are reportedly less frequent, but failure rates are still high). Add banning for modded xbox's, and I find it hard to argue xbox's continued superiority just because of a slightly larger gamer community and left 4 dead 2 (which admittedly, I'd love to have on the PS 3).
It pays to be a Gizmodian. Me and the brothers want to get Mom some HDTV love this year, but know little about it. Your HDTV review was very helpful. #Thanks!
Three things:
[1] For headphones. Sony's MDR-EX500 provide a great performance at the price. I think they'd make a great gift. [www.amazon.com]
[2] For Mice: Microsoft Explorer offers a good value alternative to the Logitech. [www.amazon.com]
[3] For vacuum cleaners, don't run to Dyson without first taking a look at the Miele S7 series. Expensive, but top class German engineering. Plus unless your a slob then you need to vacuum regularly, so its a gadget you can justify… [miele.com]
Speaking of Zune Pass, Napster is doing something similar for 5 dollars a month (with 5 songs you get to keep). Anyone use Napster know if this is any good?
@MartinLeGood: Couldn't agree more, the Acer 1410 is a great choice right now for the 11.6" "netbooks" (the netbook/thin-and-light line is really starting to blur with all these ION and CULV releases). I think the netbook choices best break down like this:
ION - Mini 311
Atom 10" - ASUS 1005HA-PU
CULV - Acer 1410 (dual core)
Hackintosh - Mini 10v
I second the Dell Mini 10v. You can get them on sale refurbished for $200, toss in a cheap 2GB stick of RAM (I paid $20 for a stick of Geil that works great) and hackintosh away. I've been using mine for two-three weeks now and it's great.
