Wow... that thing has nothing on the R-strap, costs more, clearly ripped the idea off (even down to the promo footage of the guy using it) and fails the most obvious test - would you trust your camera to a plastic clip and some paracord or a locking metal gate and the tripod lug?
$60?? I now have more than enough info to make this for about $2. Less if I use some old straps and connectors I have lying around.
It's a good idea. I have been using a neck strap and a single point of connection like in the video for a while now. I made it myself, works great. I can detach the camera in seconds and still have a wrist strap just in case.
Seems cool. I'm not a photographer so don't know the real benefit to it. But I kind of think instead of the backpack style clips. They should use something else like maybe a caribeaner (totally spelled wrong.) The plastic clips seem to easy to pop off. Just a thought. 60$ does seem like quite a bit for that little strap though.
I don't think I'd rely thousands of dollars worth of camera and glass to hang from a standard "clip" like that. Especially with a big canon L series telephoto that in turn leaves your camera and lens weighing close to 6lbs. Yeah... use a caribiner or something, but one of those plastic aligator clip things... Nooooooo way jose.
@Adam Spano: I don't know, I've had clips like that being the clasp for messenger bags that I usually carried more weight than that in. I think they're probably OK for this use.
I've been using the R-Strap from www.blackrapid.com for months now. Been super happy with it and it uses a metal connection point between the camera and the strap. Not sure about the plastic clip.
@Matt Winer: The R-Strap looks WAY better than the Luma Loop with its damn plastic clip. You want me to hang $4,500 worth of stuff on a plastic clip that disconnects? Pass.
