What makes this outing special is the inclusion of that speedy HSDPA connectivity.

HSDPA has never before been implemented in a standalone PMP and this gives the s-Station Netforce 2 reason to be a little bit big headed about its technological muscle. The other features include; Wi-Fi connectivity, a sizable 4.3" screen (800x480), an Alchemy 1250 CPU and either a 30GB or 60GB hard-drive. The devices are set to retail at approximately $530 (30GB) and a very decent $581 (60GB).

Digital Cube has a very bad habit of single handedly advancing the PMP market in such a way, the rest of the PMPs feel like they are worthless and need a big hug to carry on with their cross media playback. That would be all well and good, but they then go and make the rest of us feel like we are living somewhere in the prehistoric, as they only ever release these goodies in South Korea. We know South Korea rules when it comes to press photos and technology, but guys, have some compassion! [I4U]

<![CDATA[Digital Cube i-Station G43: World Smallest UMPC or So They Say - C'est Fantastique!]]>

Digital Cube says that their i-Station G43 is the smallest UMPC available, and the - apparently - french guy doing the interview not only believes them, but he seems to be wetting his pants with the excitement of it all in this video. I don't know if I would be excited about the prospect of running Windows XP on a AMD Geode LX800 processor with 256MB of RAM, but hey, whatever rocks your world.

In any case, this UMPC runs a full Windows on its 4.3 inch 800-pixel wide screen, and comes with up to 60 GBytes hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a USB Host port. All for only $700, including the XP license, which Digital Cube says you can then trash and install Linux.

<![CDATA[i-Station T43 PMP From Digital Cube]]> Thank heavens, another portable media player for us to pick apart. The successor to last year's V43, the T43 is a PMP that does what all good PMPs do: play your torrented videos and MP3s without making too much of a fuss. For the most part, it's pretty similar to last year's V43, but when was the last you expected consumer electronics companies to innovate?

The T43 has a few things going for it that make it something more than just a hard drive with a headphone jack. It can tune into DMB broadcasts, all but useless in the US, but given Digital Cube's location (South Korea), it makes sense. It even uses GPS in some capacity, by the looks of it, navigation. The 4.3" 480 x 272 pixel resolution screen will show off all the MPEGs and Xvids (among other formats) you feed its 20 or 30GB hard drive. It runs on Linux, no doubt winning it brownie points in the OSS community. If and when it makes its way out of Korea is unknown just yet, as well as for how much. But that information's boring anyway.

<![CDATA[i-Station V43 PMP]]> Another day, another new personal media player. The i-Station v43 will be available in a few different types: one being a standard media player, another model including GPS and a third model featuring digital television. All models support a barrel-full of different codecs and also include Tivo-to-go. In fact, the manufacturer, DigitalCube, had some interesting plans for their new PMP:

"Digitalcube said that with this new model, they can compete with SONY in PSP market."

The i-Station v43 is currently priced around $491, so until that changes, I predict the PSP sales to continue to dominate.
