The 2.8-inch screen has a wrist strap, and works as an alarm clock and calendar. The 1.5-inch version has a keychain. They hold 3000 and 120 photos, and have 10000:1 and 1000:1 contrast ratios, respectively. Rechargeable.
The Catch: The $50 1.5-inch screen form factor is the one I want, but that version is only has a passive matrix screen and a mere 1000:1 contrast ratio (vs 10000:1 of the bigger $99 version). The quality of the OLEDs in these frames is unknown.

<![CDATA[ Digital Foci Set To Launch 3 New "Image Moments" Digital Frames ]]> Digital photo frames might not be the most exciting gadgets on the planet, but they're one of those products everyone can get into —even Grandma. So lets get to the newness, shall we? Digital Foci is set to introduce three new frames at this year's CES. The best of the bunch is definitely the Image Moments 15 with a 15" XGA (1024x768) digital LCD, a high contrast ratio of 700:1, an AV input and an interchangeable frame and mat design. It also features 200MB of storage, USB 2.0 connectivity and a memory card reader that can handle all popular cards.

The other two releases are as follows:

•Image Moments 6: Features 5.7" VGA (640x480) digital LCD with high pixel density of 140 PPI, LED backlight and two-tone, mirror-polished chrome finish.

•Image Moments 8: Features 8" SVGA (800x600) digital LCD with high contrast ratio of 500:1, LED backlight, and interchangeable frame & mat design.

All devices include the same 200MB storage, USB connectivity and reader capability mentioned earlier. The Image Moments 6, 8 and 15 should be available this March for $149, $199 and $399, respectively. [Press Release] ]]>

<![CDATA[ Digital Foci Picture Porter Elite ]]> Why lug a PC with you everywhere you go, when you can offload your photos onto a Digital Foci Picture Porter Elite? This is one versatile unit, compatible with almost all flash memory cards, a veritable alphabet soup including CF I/II, MD, MMC, SD Card, miniSD, Memory Stick, MS PRO, MS Duo and MS PRO Duo. You can also transfer data to and from it via USB 2.0. Besides storing pictures, it displays images in almost all formats including RAW, and also plays back most types of video and audio.

You may have seen the first version of this, the Picture Porter, back in September of last year, but now Digital Foci has updated this unit, turning its measly 2-inch LCD into a 3.6-inch screen, and offering 40GB ($449) and 80GB ($549) sizes. Available for pre-order now, it ships August 7th.

<![CDATA[ Digital Foci Memory Card Travel Case ]]>

With all the gadgets you have to carry with you on vacation—cellphone, camera, camcorder, laptop, PDA, GPS—worrying about where you placed that SD the last thing you want to think about. Now you can place them all in one secure location, the Memory Card Travel Case, to make sure they're not lost or damaged in transit.

The case holds "CompactFlash I/II, MD, SM, MMC, SD, miniSD, MS, MS Prod, MS Duo and xD card" formats. It costs $19.95 and is well worth it if you're as prone to losing cards as we are. Plus, the case actually does protect the cards from droppage, which actually isn't a big deal since we've never damaged a card from dropping it.

<![CDATA[ Media Buddy Stores Lots of Pics ]]> media buddy.jpgIf you are looking to drop some cash on a device that stores images, check out Digital Foci's Media Buddy, a hard disc drive that lets you copy and store photos from a memory card without any wires. The backlit LCD shows text only, so you can't view any pics (but we all know how useful it is to see that CIMG0351.JPG has been transferred). The Buddy comes in 30GB, 40GB, 60GB or 80GB storage capacities which should be plenty of space. The company is touting it as a better solution to buying more memory cards. If you're on holiday and want to take tons of photos, just take your Media Buddy with you, download your images from a full card, and keep snapping. Given the price of most memory cards, $229 for the starting price of this portable drive is not a bad deal. Works with CF I/II, MD, SM, xD-Picture Card, MMC, SD Card, miniSD, Memory Stick, MS PRO, MS Duo, and MS PRO Duo. Oh, and it also works as an MP3 player. Comes in Powder Blue, Arctic Silver, and Pearl Gray.
