Why don't they ever put a recharging dock for the remote in one of these things? You'd have somewhere to keep it, you'd know where it was, AND it could get recharged. Couple it with a locator beeper powered by an emergency battery on the remote (for finding it even when the batteries die) and you are all set. Keep it in it's charging cradle on the device or hit the button on the device to find it if you don't know where it is.
@Dillenger69: Better yet, have it power everything down when placed on the cradle as a macro. So the last thing you do at night is place it int he cradle as you walk to bed.
@palehorse: Have a low light indicator. How much do you use your remote to drain a battery powering an LED that quickly? And I said a macro. You can always manually turn the equipment on, just like if your battery dies now.
