    And to be quite frank, $6k isn't much more than a brand new real pin. Only, that pin will have both the real flawed physics but only play one game...

    Pinball machines, especially classic ones, are harder and harder to find. SO I will occasionally bust out pinmame to play.

    But, I also have a full-size twilight-zone machine behind me.

    I can honestly say that I have considered building a pinmame cabinet out of a 32" or so display. #digitalpinball

    I LOVE pinball and probably always will. I've played digital pinball games just for the hell of it, but they just don't hold your attention or have the same feel as a "real" machine. Pretty much the same as a digital comic book (or the new ones with glossy paper for that matter). #digitalpinball

    Also, it has nothing to do with SciFi, it has everything to do with medieval times...and barn yard madness. :p #digitalpinball

    @HighOctaneX: ScienceFiction/Fantasy are genres that tend to crossbreed. Thus why it fits.

    But, you go ahead and do that. If you go talk to well respected pinball fanatics, they'll disagree with you. However, a company in Australia is trying to reproduce the Medieval Madness pin to cash in on the popularity of what is basically a rare pin. #digitalpinball

    I used to own an actual coin fed pinball machine when I was a kid. It was my best friend for many years, until I saw the li'l bark scorpion come out of it once. After that, I was like "Well f**k that". Besides my father had it sold even before that happened.

    This is a terrible idea. Pinball is all mechanical. If my local pinball machine dealer is correct, a real pinball table hasn't been made in a few years. It's a shame. #digitalpinball

    @KassiaHaoe: He is incorrect. Stern continues to make arcade pinball machines, and the legendary Pat Lawlor and Steve Ritchie still design some of them. Recent Stern machines include NBA, CSI, 24, Batman, and Shrek. Sadly I have yet to see any of these in person; the handful of pinball machines in local theatres are stuck at Spiderman and Pirates of the Caribbean.

    @skierpage: You need to come to Vegas and spend a day at the Pinball Hall of Fame!

    Other "recent" tables include Family Guy and the new Raiders of the Lost Ark. Shrek and Family Guy are built on the same chassis. Both have a "mini" table in the top right corner. Plus, I bet you never thought you'd be able to take the Ipecac Challenge in public!

    @dnostowitz: "People like pinball because it's nostalgic and flawed, not because it's such a great game." I vehemently disagree! My seven year old son doesn't like pinball because it's nostalgic; he goes because it's fun. I can't remember him ever turning down a trip to the PHoF since it's so close to us. He mentions going there quite often on his own and has since he was five.

    The Wii version of Pinball Hall of Fame is the most played game in our home (and not just because of me). In an ironic twist, my 70 year old mother-in-law actually started playing PinBot and the Black Knight in real life because she became accustomed to and enjoyed them so much on the Wii. (which was the first video game she'd ever played).

    No computer simulator will ever be able to duplicate the real world physics of a "modern" pinball machine, let alone the spine tingling, eight ball release when the Ark of the Covenant opens.
