Guess I'm the minority, I've had a 360 since they came out, the original batch. no RROD and no scratched disks. I had one issue where I left the console on for 3 days on accident and the brick over heated a bit and it wouldn't boot. couple hours later it started working again and it's worked just dandy every since.

My Macbook is sensitive about its optical with a disc in it as well. Can't pick it up, but I can shift it about the desk without issue. I can shift around my Powermac, and all of my other desktops that I've owned, without scratching the disc while in motion (didn't pick it up and walk around with it, just moved it over slightly for things). This sounds like a serious problem with the optical. By comparison, how do PS3's hold up to minor movement? Curious.

Cowshit! So morons don't buy PS3? or PS2? or Sega Mega drive? Does one of these consols ever scrathed a disk? I was dancing with my Dreamcast while eating ice cream and nothing happend... Microsoft you are just like man in a middle age crysis - lying and trying...

On a more serious note: I have not had ANY problems with discs becoming scratched. It's hard to get a scratched disc with the damn console is dead (RRoD).

The warning goes to the "failure to warn" claim. As far as the "negligent design/manufacturing" claims, that's another story - one best told by design and manufacturing experts who get paid $300/hr to review documents and $5,000 a day for testimony.

Bring on the Class Action. I want my 120 bucks I've spent in fees sending my machine back to get other things fixed. Even if I wasn't dumb enough to pretend my XBOX was a maraca.

@foolmartyr: There's an old adage in the legal business:

The only ones who get rich in a class-action suit are the lawyers.

That said, I concur - bring on the class-action lawsuit.

I have a lot of unemployed lawyer friends who wouldn't mind doing document review for the case. $40/OT at 70 hours a week really helps pay off the student loans.

Sounds legit to me. Don't move anything while something is spinning at 7200rpms internally or damage may occur.

@Duke Olivius: I have had 5 xbox's and 3 of them ruined cd's. The xbox never moved and it just scratched them. After each time I took it in for a replacement at bestbuy because of friends who work there. But I am still out of 120 dollars worth of video games eaten by the 360 and no way or returning it.

@Casey Hartnett: Liar! - The XBox will not scratch the disc unless you move it while its spinning. Also, any store will exchange a scratched disc if you have the receipt.

The fact that you've gone through 5 systems is further evidence that you are hard on your console.

@Tom.MFD: Christ i love how we are still blaming consumers for hardware failures. First when people were getting rrods people were accusing users of placing their 360's in saunas. And now people are getting blamed for scratching their own disc, as if when people are playing games theyre walking over to their 360 and kicking it. Why protect a corporate entity that clearly does not care about you? Im not going to protect nintendo for leaving core gamers out in the cold or sony for producing Home the biggest piece of shit on the planet.

@brutek: That's not always true for PCs. When I used to be IT, I remember a couple times the drive would scratch discs because the user would accidentally nudge the box with their knees while running. (Granted they're not suppose to be playing their personal CDs in the first place).
