He also happens to be the guy Christian Bale went ape shit on during filming.

Speaking with planet5D, Hurlbut revealed that the mount was designed for a series of 9 Terminator Salvation webisodes and was later used to film a rollercoaster ride experience video for the Terminator ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Needless to say, this might be the best thing to come out of that whole debacle of a film. [planet5d]

<![CDATA[Rumor: Canon Rebel EOS 500D To Launch on March 25th]]> Canon has an event scheduled for March 25th, and rumor has it that their big announcement will involve a new DSLR in the Rebel line—the EOS 500D.

As far as specs are concerned, the 500D is rumored to have a 15-megapixel sensor, DIGIC IV imaging processor, ISO levels up to 12800, an articulating LCD with 900K resolution an some sort of 1080p "movie mode"—an extension of the 5D Mark II and similar to the Panasonic Lumix DMC GH1. Information about the 500D varies, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Besides, it seems that releasing the 500D now would essentially cannibalize their 40D and 50D. <![CDATA[Nikon Black Friday Deals Surface]]> Nikon's just come up with news about what kind of deal you can get on some of its cameras on Black Friday. There's a $50 discount on the 10-megapixel Coolpix S550 (down to $150) and $100 off the 18x zoom P80, making it $300. But the D60 gets an even bigger chunk off with a $125 discount to $575. Sure there're a few conditions, like the D60 has to come in the DSLR kit with a system case and DVD from an authorized dealer, but since Nikon's not a retailer itself that's still not bad. Check out the Nikon link for more details and more discounts on other cameras and lenses. [Nikon]

<![CDATA[Redrock's Cinematizing Kit to Turn Video DSLRs Into Proper Movie Cams]]> Sure, the Canon 5D Mark II and Nikon D90's HD video capability is pretty amazing, but since the camera chassis and lenses are a typical DSLR shape, they lack many things in terms of utility for serious movie-makers. And that's where Redrock's "cinematizing" kit comes in.

It's designed to bolt around the camera and adds some serious mounting hardware, proper zoom and focus fine controls and lens hoods to the cameras. It certainly looks like an option to consider if you can't spring for a high-end Sony or RED cam. And though there's not much more info out there yet, the kit's supposed to be revealed today at the PhotoPlus event in New York, and the shipping date is rumored as November 1. [Prolost via OhGizmo]
