Can we just stop with there are no viruses on Mac's Bulls**t. Any computer, phone, mp3 player etc. can have a f**king viruses if the right person creates it.

See, it all comes down to this;

Macs can get viruses just as easily as any PC. However, no one want's to waste time on a virus for Mac because it wouldn't spread well. Why? Because 95% of computers out there are PCs and as soon as a Mac virus hits a PC, it dies... now how about that.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Why write a virus to affect some joe-blows Mac filled with useless Itunes and Iphoto, when you can nail the PC bank server or University server down the street.

@KLanD: The thing that has always puzzled me was why no one's done a password stealer for the Mac. The fact that they buy Apple means that they have a fair amount of disposable income and Mac owners tend to be early adopters who embrace things like online banking, so their bank accounts should be ripe for the plundering. Not to mention Identity theft, Spam, general fraud.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if such a thing is already out there, so many Mac users are so completely unprotected that if it were written properly they'd never know.

Just staying safe. If they just go around saying "no viruses for mac wooO!!!!", they could get sued or something. with this, when someone eventually gets a virus, apple can just point to this and say "we warned ya"

@enchantedduck: Yeah, it's like how my company made us take a sexual harassment/no stealing/miscellaneous ethics course. We didn't learn a thing, but it absolves the company of some blame in case their employees are scumbags.

@sos10: Um, no, it's not. There have been viruses for OSX, they just don't spread as well as they do on Windows and haven't been as damaging. Most of the time the nasty effects a Virus has on a computer are the result of an incompetent programmer, the people going after OSX or Linux are more likely to know what they're doing than your average 1337 HaXx0r script kiddie attacking Windows installations that haven't been updated since '02.

Back when I was in Middle school there was a virus on the OS9 Macs that made it so that we couldn't open Word docs on the first Tuesday of each month, if we did, it erased the file... only happened on the Macs, the PCs were unaffected.
