Housed in an MDF body (sturdier than particle board), Dream Arcades' controller one-ups Mad Catz' sticks in that it can connect to an Xbox 360 from 35 feet away—we're assuming through a USB dongle—plus it should feel more like an arcade cabinet simply due to its build materials. The company uses unspecified but "real" arcade components and overlays, plus they allow for custom button configurations, which is pretty handy.

I know I know, a lot of you will start bitching about wireless issues with lag. But really, you aren't that good and you play online anyway.

Slated for release in 5-7 weeks, we don't yet know a price, but we're expecting it to be around $150 with pre-orderers getting some sort of a discount. We'll let you know when Dream Arcades actually begins taking those pre-orders. [Dream Arcades]

<![CDATA[Arcade Driving and Kegs: A Natural Combo]]> This, my friends, is what you call asking for trouble: the new arcade driving cabinet Octane 120, from Dream Arcades, comes with a built-in keg-o-rator, with the beer tap placed conveniently on the dash next to the steering wheel. You know, so you can accurately practice your drunk driving in a safe environment before busting out your sloppy skills on Saturday night.

Really though, there's nothing wrong with this. I mean, if drinking and playing video games was illegal, I'd be on death row. This thing has two taps — one in the back and one on the dash. This allows a party to be going on around you while you tear it up in Gran Turismo, and you never even have to get up to refill your beer.

The setup includes a 120-inch projection screen, a home theater PC with 12 racing games pre-loaded, a PS3-compatible steering wheel if you want to hook one up, and a 5.1 surround system. It's available now for $7,000.

I'd personally like to see keg-o-rators involved in more video game accessories. Here's a freebie, third party accessory manufacturers: a foam dome with a built-in Xbox Live headset. Let's make it happen.

<![CDATA[Nice, But Maybe Not the Best Gift for the Ladies]]>

Yes, I know it seems like a video game kit may be the perfect Valentine's Day gift for your lady, but guys, I'm here to tell ya that unless she's really, REALLY cool, you may want to skip the Dream Arcades limited edition Pink or Red-themed Arcade Kits with pink or red ball-top joysticks and t-molding. Though the "gift of game" is being marketed as the perfect way to please her this February 14, maybe the limited-edition Valentine's Day version of the head-to-head and side-by-side arcade kits isn't really worth the $1049. In fact, I can assure you that two nights at the Four Seasons will make you a much happier man than a few hours of Ms. Pac Man—unless she's a Real Doll and/or is really into pies with pink bows. The Arcade kits are compatible with PC, Xbox and PlayStation 2 and upgrade control panels can be added to the kits for $169. That's just in case you don't take my advice.

<![CDATA[For Pennies a Day, the Price of a Cup of Coffee, Your XBox Can Live Again]]> DreamArcade has got a great idea: build arcade cases for old PCs and consoles, namely our old, ratty XBox. How cool is that? They have head-to-head cases, full sized cases, and all kinds of coolness and they work with PCs and just about anything else with a USB port.

I always wanted to make my own arcade machine, but I never could figure out how to use a drill press. Now all I have to do is order online. So nice.
