Wow, Pico should meet up with Ebcot or Disney, and develop a 3-d holographic display that pops off and displays the images with out having to wear googy looking cheap 3-d glasses, but that really pops and jumps at the viewer etc... I saw a computer monitor like this once before!

It might be a gimmicky gimmick, but at least it looks sweet.

Sure it's an old trick, but this is a superb execution. I agree the thing would make a hell of a display case to show off a product in a store.

This effect has been around for *years*, like, hundreds. The only thing that makes this possible is small enough projection technology to display the image on the glass pyramid. If you want to see this *very* old illusion, google for "Pepper's Ghost" or "Escaped Gorilla Illusion"

It can't display 3D video. It can display 2D video on a virtual "invisible" screen in the center of the case. It's a neat effect, but there's won't be any depth to the image.

Guys this is a simple mirror trick, just like that pc case with the cube from hellraiser. The mirrored glass reflects the screen above.

Seems to me there are holograms even without the phone, which leads me to wonder if the phone really has anything to do with it.

Fish make the most sense, like that holographic puffer fish in that Voyager episode with the murderous runaway hologram.

@xint: Indeed, however will be something best done while alone. It can distract guests.
