I Am Rich App Ported to Windows Mobile, Misses the Point

Giz reader Julien has created a version of the iPhone I Am Rich application, but he has completely missed the point by making it donationware. Julien, the objective of this app is making you richer by making stupid rich morons poorer in the process. More »

Guy Buys $999 I'm Rich App, Discovers He's Just Dumb

While this image may be doctored, I want to believe it's real. What really wins this for me is the desperate tone in the review from the guy who actually bought the $999 I'm Rich iPhone application, saying the application is a scam: More »

Crutch Vader Avoids Jail, Dark Side Wins Again

District Judge Andrew Straw has given Crutch Vader a "suspended 12 months" jail sentence plus an order to pay $500 to the "victims"—two morons members of the Jedi Church of England—and their lawyer. This means that Sir Lord Vader Von Drunk—real name Arwel Wynn Hughes—will avoid jail. Quite frankly, after seeing the video of his innocuous attack, I can't believe the judge actually considered putting this guy in jail. [BBC News]

Canadian Cops Tase Knife-Wielding 82-Year-Old Patient in his Hospital Bed

The cops in Canada seem to be getting the hang of the Taser business. Mounties summoned to a British Columbia hospital tased an octogenarian patient after he pulled a knife from his pocket. Eighty-two-year-old Frank Lasser, who was suffering from pneumonia and had been admitted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, claimed that sometimes he got delusional when he got short of breath. Did that, however, make it right for the police to tase him, bro? More »

Area Man Parks Car On House Roof, Tells Police "GPS Made Me Do It"

CHICKASHA, Oklahoma (Agencies). Chickasha resident James McFarlan, a 45-year-old computer analyst and part-time fabric designer, drove this morning into Annie Svenson's home roof after what he referred to as an incident with his car GPS. "I told him [Sheriff Furillo] that my GPS made me do it. I was just driving when the nice sexy voice inside the box told me to turn left while I was driving through the bridge on Frisco and 62nd," said McFarlan after being released by the police. "She was like, come on, do it. Do it! Dooooo iiiit!!!" The next thing McFarlan recalls is 78-year-old retiree Mrs. Svenson in her nightgown, knocking on his windshield. More »

Digital Card Calculator Spycam Is Sneaky Circa 1985

You're in a hotel lobby when your mark walks in. You pull out the Digital Card Calculator Camera and pretend to casually crunch sums, while in reality you are snapping Top Secret Digital Photographs. Your target would only know you're a spy if he/she spots the enormous VGA lens and bezel right next to the keypad. It's a good thing, then, that you're reasonably inconspicuous in trenchcoat and matching fedora. A technical question, though: if it's got a lithium-ion battery for the camera and a 1.5V button battery for the calculator, how's come the solar panels? More cloak n' dagger deception, I imagine. Students Mistake Landmine for Frisbee, Narrowly Avoid Death

When a couple of Swiss kids on holiday in Hungary found a circular object by a river, they did the logical thing and started playing Frisbee with it. They were gob-smacked to learn, however, that their toy was, in fact, a Soviet anti-tank landmine. More »

Why Multitouch Apple Monitors Would Be Dumb

The Mac sites are humming with rumors of Multitouch Apple Cinema Displays. I can trace the inspiration for these posts from two sources, at least here at Giz. First, the video above. Stunning, ain't it? Secondly, I received this loosy-goosy email the other day:
During a dinner with a very old friend, who happens to be an anonymous designer at Apple...when my dad mentioned his plans to get two large flat screen monitors side by side for his macpro, the designer said wait just 2 years, then...proceeded to demonstrate the multi-touch screen of the iPhone.
An email isn't enough to spark a rumor, but that's not what this is about. The blogs are excited about the notion. I am, too, but I am also aghast. The thought of doing 12 hours of work on such a monitor reminds me of these terrible things: More »

Laptop Covers for Dummies

Lapstyle calls these "the all new, never seen before" laptop covers, and there's a good reason why they've never been seen before: they are the stupidest accessory ever. The last thing a laptop needs is a cover that makes it retain heat. More »
