”Pantech Duo 2 Dual-Sliding Windows Mobile Phone Leaked on FCC
Seeing as the original AT&T Pantech Duo 1 is the C810, this C820 has a really high possibility of being the Pantech Duo 2. There aren't many details, but it's got WCDMA 850/1900, which is AT&T's 3G, and probably will run Windows Mobile like the previous ones. It's interesting to check out the differences between this and the Ocean 2, which also popped up on the FCC a few weeks back if you're into looking at FCC drawings. [FCC]
SanDisk Extreme III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo Caught Speeding at 30MBps
SanDisk has unchained their new Extreme III PRO-HG Duo cards and they are tearing ass all over the place with superfast 30MBps read and write transfer speeds. For those of you keeping track, SanDisk's non-HG Extreme III's can only muster 18MBps speeds. Naturally, the PRO-HG will be aimed squarely at users with high end cameras and camcorders who don't mind dropping $90 and $150 on a 4GB or 8GB card. Available starting in June. Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale Processor Tested (Verdict: "Recommended")
The chaps over at Hot Hardware have put the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 processor, which belongs to the (45nm) Wolfdale line, through its paces, and they sure were impressed. From their extensive testing, the processor, intended for desktop machines and ideal for gaming especially, did not seem to make any massive changes on an architectural level, however, small adjustments had a great overall effect on performance. The 6MB of L2 cache brought an impressive speed boost, while the power consumption and heat production levels both fell. More »Sony Vaio Type T Gets Refreshed CPU and Casing
The fantastic Vaio Type T may have lost its thin crown to another laptop, but Sony has rejigged its slimline notebook, giving it a faster CPU, an ultra-low-voltage Core 2 Duo U7600 running at 1.2GHz and a fancy-pants artsy finish. No word on pricing or availability yet. [Akihabara News]

The MacBook Air Mini-Processor Explained
If you were curious about how the MacBook Air's ultra-compact Core 2 Duo processor came to be, an in-depth AnandTech study has revealed that the processor is a mixture of Intel's 65 nanometer (65nm) Merom architecture with an 800MHz bus and a new, smaller chip package originally slated to be released later this year. Hit the link for all the details. [AnandTech via AppleInsider]ASUS' Nova P22 PC Is Small, Sleek, and Powerful
ASUS' new PC, the Nova P22, has solid specs for a small machine. A Core 2 Duo processor, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth, built-in speakers and a slot-loading disc drive round out the 122-cubic inch package. The P22 also supports 5.1 speaker configurations if surround sound is your thing. It will retail for $800 when it sees release at the end of January, and it looks like it would be a great complement to their new LCD monitor. [ASUS]Apple Docking Patent Works Perfectly with Ultra-Slim MacBook
This Apple docking station patent shows a screen base in which you can slide in a MacBook through its side. While this would be difficult to do with current MacBook models, it fits perfectly with the idea of the ultra-light, ultra-slim MacBook that allegedly will be presented at MacWorld. Basically, the patent shows an iMac-like unit with all the necessary ports and components, with a slot-loading right bay. The system works similarly to the old PowerBook Duo and its DuoDock base station, but vertically instead of horizontally. The complete patent text and diagrams, along with our own step-by-step rendering, leave no doubt about how this works:

Amtek iTablet T221 UMPC is No Fatty
When Amtek are not taking the piss out of Gizmodo writers, they are usually busy cranking out tempting UMPCs. Their latest effort, the iTablet T221, packs in some great features, including a 12.1-inch LCD touchscreen (1024 x 768), Intel Core Duo (1.2Ghz), GMA 950 graphic chipset, 60GB HDD, 2GB RAM and supports 802.11a/b/g wireless networks. I got the chance to give the Pantech Duo a spin, or rather a slide, and haven't been able to put it down. AT&T's newest Windows Mobile phone has an attractive, glossy gray finish, but it's the double keyboards that really steal the show. More »
Pantech Duo C810 Dual Slider Now Rocks the AT&T Casbah
Check out this hands-on video of the Pantech Duo C810, now available via AT&T just as we told you it would be. The dual-slidin' WinMo 6 phone looks a bit smaller than we thought it was (and smaller than the similar Helio Ocean), but still seems clunky and a bit thick for our tastes. But hey, what do you want for $250 with the usual two-year indentured servitude? Anyway, Eric from Phone Scoop gives us a good gawk 'n' grope of the phone from all angles, even though he could relax a bit. Overall, not a bad handset for the money with its 3G connectivity, but unfortunately there's no Wi-Fi or GPS. [Pocketnow and Wired]

Samsung's Already Awesome HD Disc Hybrid BD-UP5000 Upgraded to Profile 1.1 (Bye Bye Format Bitching)
Samsung's HD disc player was going to be the first to do both HD DVD and Blu-ray completely right. But now, it's perfect: Samsung just sent us an alert saying the dual-format BD-UP5000 Duo HD player will come hardware-ready for BD Profile 1.1—at least 256MB of internal storage, secondary audio and video decoders, virtual file system. You realize that the rest of the Blu-players this fall totally lack this, and it's a wonder how Sony and everyone else can get away selling old spec Blu players while calling them new. This player ends that, and is the only one we recommend. At the risk of being hyperbolic, this player could be the beginning of the end of the format war's significance to consumers. V-Moda Vibe Duo iPhone Headset Gets a Call Button
V-Moda's Vibe Duos have been out since July, but even though they had an iPhone-friendly 3.5mm jack and an inline microphone, buyers complained about the lack of a "clicker," a button to take calls without touching the iPhone. Well, whine and ye shall receive: the new V-Moda Vibe Duo has it, and at no extra cost—they are still $99.99. [Press Release]ViewSonic Diamani DUO PC/TV hybrid LCD Displays Swing Both Ways
ViewSonic takes a tilt toward practicality with its PC/TV hybrid LCD displays, packing a passel of inputs into its Diamani DUO 19-inch NX1932w and 22-inch NX2232w screens. It makes sense: You have all this resolution floating around, why not tack an HDMI port on board, add an ATSC HD tuner and 10-watt speaker system, and then have a dual use display? Good idea in theory, but the execution falls short.

AT&T's Dual-Sliding Pantech Duo In the Wild
The Pantech Duo, seen previously as the Helio Ocean, has just been spotted in the wild by a tipster. He takes some sample shots next to his V3xx RAZR, which should give you a good idea of how large it is in comparison. If it's as thick as the Ocean, prepare to be either appalled or flattered when your friends comment on your third testicle. [Update, added side shot]
