The imitation/knockoff market never ceases to amaze me. This bladeless fan from Abiko is a knockoff version of the Dyson Air Multiplier. But unlike typical cheap imitations, Abiko's version, at $223, is almost as expensive as the real thing.
Less than a year ago, Dyson changed the face of the humble home fan completely—not just giving it a bit of plastic surgery, but completely removing its blades. Now, two much larger, powerful fans have blown in.
Maybe moving $300 fans is harder than Dyson expected, or perhaps Dyson's engineers are just flat out of things to do. Either way, this Rube Goldberg-ian balloon course, made from God knows how many Air Multiplier bladeless fans, is mesmerizing.
Dyson's newest invention, a window fan with no blades, is the most opulent, most eye-catching and most ludicrously overpriced gadget the company has released yet. And I sort of love it.
