GestPoint has some cool gesture recognition going on with two of the upcoming Xbox 360 Eye-Toy cameras. Using two instead of one, they can detect motion in 3d space, in a sort of Wii-controller like fashion. Using your finger or other body part, you can direct a sword or other objects on the screen up, down, left, right, in, and out. The fun part is the in and out.

This can also be used in public terminals as a replacement for a mouse. Minority Report-like screens can be had in your own living room.

<![CDATA[ E306 Clips: Novint Falcon ]]> We had a talk with Bill Anderson of Novint Technologies, maker of the upcoming force feedback Falcon controller/interface. It's come a long way from a year ago, and it's grown a ball.

How it works: you grasp it with your fingertips in a handshake-like grip, then move it in any direction inspace and it will feel like you're actually interacting with the item on the screen. Example: If there's a rough ball on the screen, the Falcon will vibrate around the surface of the sphere and prevent you from putting your hand through the actual ball itself.

Retailing in '07 for a target price of under $100, the Falcon is geared towards FPS games, sports games, and other games where force feedback is key.

<![CDATA[ E3 2006: Kotaku Sony Coverage Roundup ]]> Our Gizmodo and Kotaku soldiers in LA have been busy busy! After chomping down at the Japanese Corporate Overlord sponsored press party, Joel wiped his hands on his pants well enough (sorta) to provide us with a Liveblog of the Sony Playstation Press conference. Hearing that the two PS3 models were lauching at $499 and $599, Intern Travis said "jesus christ", "holy shit", and "garrrr". One bit of good news, the PS3 controller is "light, outfitted with Bluetooth" and has 6-axis movement detection. Rumble, however, is nowhere to be found.

Across town, Square-Enix announces three whole Final Fantasy XIIIs for the PS3 and mobile phones. Brian was impressed with their loads of real-time and pre-rendered vids.

Check back soon for more live coverage of E3 by our intrepid and semi-sober Giz-taku gang.
